Question: Elephant Grass Trick with Peafowl

Title might seem a little senseless, but I know of a trick where you can make a gateless walkthrough habitat for peafowl using elephant grass, but I'm not entirely sure how it works. I've noticed that a lot of YouTubers have done it and it's a really great concept - can anyone let me know?

I haven’t tried it myself, so it’s only what I’ve seen in a video.

They placed the elephant grass upside down right underneath the ground. Apparently the hitbox reaches above ground and keeps the animals inside.

I thought so, but I wanted to be sure before I attempted to build something nice that might need to be redone. Thank you!

This is interesting - I tried this in an aquatic enclosure with Salt Waters Croc's and they magically lifted out of the water as if on an invisible barrier when they went over the up turned elephant grass. Must work with Salty's too. They levitated, quite magical.

Maybe just build a quick functional habitat just for proof of concept before you work on your master piece.

I will (though masterpiece is a bold statement - I felt inspired to try the technique after seeing FanDanExtra's Jamii Conservation Park on YouTube (he has a couple of little peafowl gardens around that zoo) but I doubt I'll be able to do anything even half as good as he does).

I also considered simply doing a mixed red panda/peafowl habitat so if this walkthrough system doesn't work for me I'll probably just do that instead. 😅
