[Question] Engineers and Commodities

I have a question!

Would you mind if the Engineer blueprints commodities requirements returned, but all were buyable somewhere?

I have a feeling FD want to bring them back in to the fold at some point (due to their lack of total disappearance from the mission boards).

I personally don't want another layer of RNG, like the Micro Weave Cooling Hoses of old, but if they were buyable, I wouldn't mind so much (especially seems as all my ships have a cargo rack). But it does create a problem for engineering ships which have no cargo racks.

The way I see it, having the Engineer commodities return, as buyable goods, not just RNG mission rewards, would help reduce the RNG-ness of material gathering. It would also promote Engineer commodity PvP piracy.
But create the problem of ships lack of cargo capacity.
The solution to that is allow you to "bank" a certain amount of engineer commodities with your Engineer to use later.

Not sure if it's all worth the hassle. Lol

Just a random question, I'm not asking for their return. Discuss! Nicely!

If you imply they might be rare goods, I'd be in.

Even if that means they'd drop out of the misson rewards range.

It's a terrible idea, having to fit cargo racks on your ship instead of the modules you want to get engineered towards just so you can do engineering. In fact they should be completely removed. They're obsolete remnants of a removed game mechanic.

Perfect answer.

Commodities were a mistake, were recognized as a mistake and removed. They should never return.

no, it's a pointless mechanic, doesn't add meaningful gameplay: go there, collect item ... it's mario style gameplay . if you can pay for the commodities, you might as well pay the engineer, it stands to reason that being an engineer he would have good supply chain.

rare commodities or very specific materials would maybe make sense for very specific modifications. as a baseline, just no, it's just empty grind, fake content. throw in rng everywhere, and the fact that it's a must to compete and you understand why people pull their hairs off.

I don't want them back either, just curious if anyone else feels the same.

I just don't know why we still have them as rewards, when only Modular Terminals are actually needed for anything (Qwent). Lol

Best solution I can think of is remove cargo rewards entirely (IMHO, they're dumb and worthless), and turn Modular Terminals in to a micro material for Qwent, to preserve the RNG behind is unlock.
Or turn them in to a rare or regular commodity, and make unlocking Qwent less stressful. Lol
(If MTs were a regular commodity, I wouldn't have cared if he wanted 10,000t of them! It would have taken far less time. Lol)
