Question for Asp Explorer captains.

I'm looking for a relatively affordable ship but there is an issue I'm having with many ships: There are missing textures or gaps in a lot of cockpits/bridges in this game.

My question is simple: To your eye, can you see any missing textures/gaps anywhere in the cockpit of your Asp Explorer?

Thanks.

Been awhile since the last time I flew the Asp, but I don't recall seeing any "eye sores."

That said, with TrackIR I can't move around and look everywhere but within the range I can see from the chair, I've never noticed any issues.

Last time I had a look round the cockpit neither of the asps had any noticeable gaps but that was before the last update so it may have changed since then

That is encouraging. So far the only ship I've found to not have any cockpit issues is the Eagle Mk II, but obviously that's quite a limited ship.

Asp? Not so much.

Just crossed the galaxy in the AspX and haven't seen any issues with textures in it. On the other hand I haven't noticed any issues with textures on any of my ships either (I have a dozen or so). Maybe you have some issues with your graphics settings?

On which platform are you? I hardly see or know of any graphical cockpit glitches.
Please don't point them out, as you can't unring a bell 😅
I won't point them out, but they are universal to Xbox and PC at least.

This isn't a glitch. It's just the designer forgetting to put a filler where one should be.

Was in my AspX last night, and didn’t notice any texture issues. Can’t say I was looking for them. I can have a head look around and send you a video later tonight via Xbox if you like. Pretty sure I still have you on my friends list? If not, or you have changed your GT, just shoot me a line :) I’m playing on 1X, with graphics priority setting rather than performance.

Bear in mind, the Triffidus Celestus cockpit is a bit of a cluttered mess... I have alien pot plants, thargoid sensor string lights, an o7 bobble head and a wireframe thargoid bobble. Oh and the raider ship kit that has a kind of roll cage thing as well haha so mine may not be the best to look for small details.

I have many hundreds of hours clocked in my Asp, no holes in the geometry that I've ever noticed. If there are any, I'd be very surprised, as I play in VR and like to poke around a lot (and just like you, I hate those little graphical oversights). The Asp's cockpit/bridge isn't too fancy, but a few updates back they did spruce it up a bit with a monitor on the wall and a ladder leading down to the lower deck. They also updated the exterior LOD to better match the interior, as the design on the door used to be totally different when viewed from the external cam.

It's been a few weeks since I last logged in but I use my AspX in both flat screen and VR and I haven't noticed any glitches or gaps in the cockpit.

Okay ship, superseded by the Phantom in my opinion. The downside of the ship for me is it's sound, a 34th Century high tech engine designed to take a ship faster than light should not sound like a WW1 Fokker!

I enjoyed Asp a lot, until Beyond lighting update.
Then scratches on the cockpit windows became really visible in strong light - and they were really, really ugly made.
I stopped using Asp about then, so I'm not sure if it changed, but I doubt that.

Hey!!! Fokkers sound great,.....well they actually don't but it's the only aircraft manufacturer we've had in our country so I'm bound to liking them.

I have not really noted anything glaringly wrong with any of the ship internals, but there are quite a few good reasons to go with an Asp Explorer:
  • Decent jump range even when fully kitted out for combat
  • Excellent visibility from the pilot seat for surface observing the ground while flying low or landing
  • Smallish landing footprint meaning finding good landing spots is relatively easy
  • A decent range of optional module slots (not good enough for the ultimate multi-role but certainly good enough for relatively easy refitting)
If you are focused on the visuals rather than ship performance then you may find all ships lacking to at least some degree (if you look close enough). The Imperial craft are probably the most pleasing to the eye from a ship internals perspective though.

You may want to highlight some of the specific things that particularly bother you and/or what ships you have tried already.

I've flown this ship for a long while in vr and the cockpit was awesome. Unless they broke it recently it should be all good
