Question for other Xbox One X users.

When I start ED the minute it's is loaded and I'm in the hangar my One X starts to imitate our vacuum cleaner.
The fan goes full military power and only stops when I quit ED.
Only when I enter the Galaxy map the fan becomes a bit quieter.
It only does that with ED, other graphic heavy games don't do this at all, I don't even hear the One X at all until I start playing ED.

Do you guys have the same experience and should I report this at FD support?

My fan aint running whilst playing.
I do still have rendering issues btw. I dont want to say it, but, I think microshaft has turned us over with these consoles.

Edit -
The console is humming away but I had to get within touching distance to hear it.

My fan is running hardcore mode with ED too.
Quality settings. There's a fan that can go so fast, if it's going that fast the thing is used to its limits.
What in my book is a good thing, no wasted resources.

Haven't noticed that with mine, but I'll keep an ear out the next time I boot it up.

Strange that not everyone is experiencing this, my One X stands clear on all sides nothing's blocking the vent holes so it should get enough air.
I do run on 4K Quality settings so that might stress the graphics card a bit but I also run other games in 4K quality and the fan is barely noticeable.
It's only with ED no other app or game makes the fan spin up so much.
The fan works properly I guess because as soon as I switch to dasboard or quit the game the fan is quiet again.

If ED fries my One X then FD owes me a new one I guess:D

As long as it doesn't turn the fan on in short burts you're ok. I've found it will do three 2 second bursts before it does a forced reset but only one game so far has pushed it into doing that.

It's not spinning in shorts bursts just spinning up and down dependend on where I am.
When I'm flying into a station it starts spinning a lot more, I just flew deep into space with not much around me and the fan slows down but still noticeable.
I checked the sides for dust in the rosters but they seem clean, how would I go about removing dust inside those rosters without blowing it into the Xbox?
I've got a can with compressed air but that would blow everything into the Xbox.
Would it help putting ED on my external drive and decreasing the load on the internal?

Do you have it on its side?

Nope, it's placed horizontal about 3 feet from my tv, my other stuff like tv decoder and surround are on the other side of the tv so nothing's near the xbox that could warm it up.
It only does it with ED, not with other games.....
Maybe it's just me being picky, I used to hear the fans spinning up in my game pc to when under load but I thought it odd that it only happens when playing ED.

Hey Dutch,

I've not noticed this as of yet. Also running 4k Quality all the time. Case fan kicks in for a few seconds periodically then goes back to it's usual low hum.

Not sure FD is the place to take it too, but it wouldn't do any harm. There maybe some value in contacting M$ "support" just to out your mind at rest that there isn't a complete failure impending.

IIRC, Dustys XB1X failed and had to be returned for repair/replacement. He might be able to offer advice.

Well I did some testing yesterday.
As soon as I switch to 1080p either quality or performance then the Xbox is very silent.
When I switch to 4K either quality or performance the fan starts kicking in, especially when I fly into a station then it's realy blowing hard and it keeps that way untill I leave the station.
Every time something graphical comes close like planets etc. but also during hyperjump rhe fan grows loud.

I'll contact support and see what they have to say.

Thanks guys for all your input.

I filed a support ticket, maybe FD support can shed some light on it, they know more then I do.
I'll let you guys know what their opinion is.
