PvP Question for PvP'ers

If PvP is all about more risk creating a better sense of reward, why don't the PvP community go semi or even full ironman? By semi ironman I mean to NOT rebuy the ship if defeated and full ironman meaning reset the save on ship destruction? It would not only add more risk to a match thus creating more excitement, but it would also add a new dimension to gameplay, where is the sweetspot in terms of how much work you are willing to put into your CMDR and the ship before going out scrapping in it against how much effort you are willing to put on the line...

For example, if flying an engineered G5 FGS, if you die in semi ironman mode you lose the ship and all the g5 engineering, if you were in full ironman mode you also lose the rank to buy the gunship as well as the access to the engineers...

If there were an actual ironman mode, I'd play it, and my ideal version of the game would be Open-only ironman, but I have no particular interest in handicapping myself relative to everyone else.

I like a challenge when I PvP, but I'm not constantly looking to be challenged. Even PvPers need to chill sometimes. Everyone's different some people will probably even disagree with what I've said. But to answer you OP it's because we don't want to grind constantly to get PvP capable all over again. We just want to shoot each other and have fun (most of the time anyway :p)

That's an excellent idea! But wait! There's more! Arm-wrestlers should have their arms chopped off when they lose! And professional fighters should fight to the death! Football teams that lose should be executed! And so on.

Because (as one of the many people who was more tham a little irked when they pulled the proposed Iron Man mode) it doesnt work without all parties in the same instances adhering to the same rules.

To be lazy (and paint a slightly dramatic picture), lets say you and I lock horns in Open, and Im playing to my own weird e-bushido code whereas youre not. This means we're pitting someone for who defeat or death is a potentially big thing against someone for whom it isnt, leaving me considerably hamstrung to begin with.

Its why suicide eagles wouldnt be a thing in an ironman environment (because of the legwork station ramming would involve for our wannabe griefer), but is a regular-ish occurance with the current system.
