Question for the Dev's - The Fer-de-Lance and Crimson Skies

This is a weird question for the ship design team, if they have a moment. I’m a fan of FASA's old Crimson Skies universe, and having been going through the boxed game I’ve just spotted something. Is the Fer-de-Lance a tribute to Crimson Skies’ Curtiss-Wright J2 Fury?

The mission profile and weapon loadout of the Fury is remarkably similar to that of the Fer-de-Lance – an evasive combat craft with four smaller guns supplementing an oversized belly mount. Even the big gun position on both vehicles is the same.

It could be just coincidence of course, but enquiring minds would like to know, because if it is a tribute then that is incredibly awesome :D

I think it's a coincidence.

But I LOVED Crimson Skies!

Gonna call coincidence on that one, since I've never even heard of the game you're talking about.

I'm pretty sure it's a coincidence too, but it was fun to notice :p Crimson Skies was a 1990's game universe created by FASA Corporation (BattleTech, Shadowrun) for a hex-based boardgame involving huge muscle-planes and zeppelin fights in a larger-than-life alternate 1930's America. It spawned a couple of spinoff XBox and PC titles and is generally awesome. Wish they'd bring it back through Kickstarter or something, and not in Clix form this time >.>
