Question from potential Xbox player. Can you help answer his Q's?

Idk about xbox one controller, but the chatpad for 360 controller, never worked. Microsoft didn't release the drivers for it.

see my post on the previous page for a place to source Xbone chat pads, as for the 360 chat pad there are drivers available for it for the PC but they are not from MS and not digitally signed so are a pain to use, you have to F8 on every boot to allow you to run unsigned drivers or the chatpad doesn't work and neither does the controller.

My suggestion would be for those serious about this to invest in a xim4 which allows for a controller & Keyboard and Mouse to be active all at the same time on Xbox or PS4. There is a simple phone app you can use to program the buttons and mouse response.

I use this on my PS4 for playing Battlefield Hardline, means I was able to swap from the PC to the console without any issues, otherwise I would have to of spent years relearning mussel memory to use the controller to get close to the same skill level I had on the PC.

You can create your own mapped key setup and even share them, loads already exist for various games.

I think you can even connect joysticks as well.

no, it's not possible to map EVERY key to the pad.. i maxed out the given combination opportunities on the ps3 pad [same button layout / same amount of buttons], which is emulated as xbox360 pad via ds3tools anyways..

HOWEVER, you can map the most important functions to the pad + a little bit more, i almost never reach to the keyboard [except for Navlock Wingman's target and debug cam, basically], and i also have the landing gear toggle on a button combo..

Obvioulsy a HOTAS would play much better, but since mine broke down ages ago [before buying Elite] i prefer the ps3 pad over mouse / kb any day, that's for sure [not that mouse / kb was an option for xbox players but anyways].

I wouldnt get too involved into PvP fights, though i never tested that by now...

The advanced gamepad mapping is working out really well for me... I'm using it instead of setting out my HOTAS every time. Almost all controls in this mapping use the two-button mechanic described above.
