today i have discoverd an very interesting clip of the beginning from the elite dangerous project, in one of this i wonder of that was the GODFATHER OF ELITE UNIVERSE, Procedural Worlds, 3D World/Game and the Spacegame Genre itself has say's on a question to an elite player.

Sure, the question aims to another sense than i talk about, but the answer aims to an general type of answer. And now i wonder how and why it it possible that Master Braben said this, but the actual game experience is frustrating, boring and anoying as far u has reached an advanced type of your progress and/or have an ingame time more than 28 weeks u have play'd the game.

So for u to understand why i wonder, an so to be in the right position to answer my question i try to give an overview of my game experiences since i begin to play elite:

198x i begin to play the first elite on my 8 bit machine an i loved it to play

199x i played the 2nd elite for much years and have fun by the nostalic elite one from the 80s

2015 i begin to play elite dangerous (the 4th elite) with version 1.2 and begin to trade because i need money to get this anaconda and to get an elite rank and mony to equip this ship in shinrarta dezrha because it would be very anoying always to fly from station to station to get the equipment i need but there is no information left in my non existent bordcomputer in the year 330x, but we can fly with 2000x light speed trough the space, leaving instantly this world, with alt+tab (vr helmet users, i think would be anoyend one more time at this point) then travel back in time to the year 2015-2017 and then use an google machine to find websites in an language that is not your motherlanguage, by reading tons of text and/or tons of youtube clips, with informations that are not at an actual stat or not 100% correct. WOW!
---> This is anoying and frustrating!

on version 1.3 i wonder about the BGS and powerplays system, and i ask myself why should i gind my off for any political and virutal "specialists" (this was the diplomatic description) and get nothin for this? money i can made at this time with trading, but with PP? no, there u get more in trouble by getting interdicted from the PP-NPC's, so it makes no sense. The PP weapons was not really interesting and amazing to my to decide to grind my off.

on version 1.4 i see there was nerved the anaconda and all my work and fun with my 3 anacondas (1 trade, 2 for fight with diffenent settings) does not work after the nerve because there is not enough power, ok so i kill them and only trade with them, and begin to work to get this corvette ship that was now implemented in the game

on version 2.0 i wonder about the synthetics that i can collect with an buggy on an planet and i see there is another anoying, boring, grind mechnanism implemented to the game. so i should drive for hours on an planet surface to let my anaconda jump one time 50% more in range! are u kidding me? in the same time i can trade much more or make bounty hunting, so why should i do this? so i have never used this feature at this time.

but the, the big disapointment comes to me, version 2.1 - the engineers - and the ultra mega hyper grind comes with it that makes elite much more anoying, boring and senseless to me, but the skynet functionallty of the kamikazi npcs makes it impossible to play the game. all my rage, about this bad game desing was written down to some critics to this forum. so i begin to look to other games, stop playing elite, and look back to it from time to time.

2.2 comes up but the passengers was implementet with bugs that makes it senseless because of beta phases that does not ear the title "beta", so i have written another critics to this thematic to this forum, to give my desperation and disapointment an voice, in hope to FD will hear this and make some major changes to get profit by herself from this.

2.3 comes up and the multicrew is there, again with an immature state, so actually state and 2.3.03 will come to fix these, BUT for 2.3 FD has made an beta where this title will be ok! But the game always itself is boring to me, so i decicde to begin to work on the engineers. But then i see i cant continue because i do not find the needed materials, for example .. i can drive with my buggy on planet surfaces 3 days long but i do not find 1 arsenic on an planet with 2.9% arsenic .. or i do not get any material by scanning data points on "low sec" settlements ... and so i get disapointed one time more ...

this process of motivation myself, but getting disapointed, frustated, bored by always making the same things ( i call this grind ) is the problem, and so in wonder why the Godfather of elite, david braben, has sayd in th clip "You don't design a game with long boring frustratating sections in it" ... for this i can't find any words, and my quuestion is, what is going wrong there?

This case reminds me to an support ticket, in this i talk by the way about the grind in the game, and why FD is implementig so much grind-elements, but the answer was, "In elite it is not about grind", LOL!!! Are u kidding me?

I started with Elite in 198x
Played a shared CMDR with my Brother.. we got to Deadly but just short of Elite. You know, like it was designed to be hard and almost unattainable!

I started with Elite Dangerous in early 2016 ?
Already I saw many players with ELITE rank (now in 3 categories) I remember thinking wow, how did those guys all get to Elite so quick.. and in 3 categories ?

Was excited about the prospect of multiplayer PVP and stuck to open play only – but realised that the game mode is confused and ED is best played as a co-op PVE.
Tried the politics power play – just boring grind.
Most other things to do like Res sites seemed like – boring grind.
Stopped playing ED when horizons came out.

Picked up ED a couple of weeks ago and downloaded Horizons 2.3
Planetary landings is cool, SRV is fun. But otherwise not much to do there except park and admire your ship
Now there is engineering – another big grind only to make the disparity from the noob in a standard ship even wider.

Ok I have upgraded my clipper FSD, but that’s just so I can get around the universe without needing to make a dozen jumps just to go 50 LY.

Now only playing ED in private group.
So far not totally bored but there are long moments of sitting on the pad thinking … what the hell / where to go now.
Or shall I just log out.
 
Nothing wrong with something taking time to accomplish.

If you want instant gratification, Elite isn't the game for you.
 
@shadragon: u misunderstood my words. I has nothing to do with getting everything instant or very short time, it has to do with impossibility to continue, it has to do with an disgusting protracted gameplay where u get the feeling that the developers be interested to slow down your playing, and more than this, it feels like someone is interested to make u pain by every step u do in the game.

The only i can do atm is the engineer, i have some billions on my account, i have all ships i like to have, cutter, anaconda, corvette, beluga (selled because i see no sense in this ship), i have tripple elite, and i was working for my trader rank 3 monthe by grindind (flying from a t b) to get my trade elite, so there is no reason to tell me "somthing needs time" i can grind, and grind can be fun, but for this it must have an flow, and flow means u always have something to do, there is no pause, u have to do so much interesing things that u have no time to think about what u CAN do as next, u know this effect especially from city building games, but not only, some asia grinders too have this flow effect. and this in one of the most things i miss in elite. because every place is the same place in the universe, there is nothing that gives me the feeling here is my home and here is my castle, no there is nothing like this, it's a little bit like an chewing gum that u have chewed for monthes .. in my case 24 monthes!

But to come back to my theme, master david braben has said it
and i would know what is is statement if he see an typical story of
the game experience from much people, much of my friends have stopped playing elite becuase of the anoying and frustrating gameplay without to see they cant get better, so

what is master braben, the godfather of elite, thinking about this case?

I agree that nothing wrong with taking time..

This is why my commander is relatively poor.
I don't do the exploits, I don't do board jumping / mode switching and also try to avoid any shortcut youtube tips.

The adventure is in finding out stuff for yourself.
I remember with the original game in the late 80s, you would be lucky find a tip or two in a gaming magazine but that was about it...
(like how to get to witchspace)

The guy above proves my point. I don't know if he used all the internet resources or any exploits to get to where he is.

But what is there left for him to ACHEIVE.
He has all the money he can possibly need, he has all the ships, he is ELITE in each category.
Of course there is always "something" to do but not necessarily fulfilling.
Maybe the aliens will provide it.

To make it a little bit more clear, it is not my intension to pull down elite, david or the devs, or anyone else! I see there is an problem and inconsistency to the actual stat of that was Master David Braben has says in the clip i have linked to. Sure the question was another but the answer normally should be the same in general to the gameplay. So it would be interesting if there would come an statement to my question :)

I have researched and seen all these kickstater clips, like die dev diara, progress diary, and much others, so i'am sure there is no bad intension from master David Braben and FD. On the contrary, I am convinced, that master David Braben and FD will work hard and straight on the Elite Dangerous Project. Nevertheless, i only can repeat, it would be interestion to hear/read what The master of the Eliteverse would say to this :)
 
I’d like to link in here if I may, my feelings about ED are completely the same @opener . In opposite to your post, I don’t mind the bugs in the game, I can cope with that as I feel they do not appear so often to me. I agree that with engineers update ED got a mere grindfest, though sometimes by means exciting by hoping to get a good roll. All that is not THAT bad, it’s ok. But with April 29th presumably the whole Formidine Rift (or Reclamation book story) died, having hoped there FINALLY something like a real story would begin to be told/unfolding. The “Aliens” also were hyped like the Ancient Ruins, they are in game (so was said) but nothing happens. I wrote it already in another post in another thread, but what ED lacks most is – storytelling. With that I don’t mean reading articles on Galnet, but a PLAYABLE EXPERIENCABLE story. ED itself is a great game, but please ED now stop integrating senseless features that only purpose is *bling bling* or “mine-is-longer-than-yours” or “what-a-nice-private-party-we-are-you-don’t-belong-to-us”, please go ahead and let the stories live, for anyone experiencable. Who ever played Freelancer knows what I mean.

I am no whiner at all (see my attitude regarding bugs), I am rather worried about the way ED is currently going.
