Ships Question on Asp Explorer Pirate build

As my love to the Asp X is growing from day to day, I wanted to use this ship as a NPC (and Player) Pirate ship. I don´t want to kill, I just want to steal with it. I made my first experiences with it (I don´t have Cytos or Grombombs yet), and I am especially interested of what would be the right shield for this job. I thought about a 3 Prismatic.

What do you think? Any experienced pirates out there?

The shield has good numbers as listed but it is slow to repair.

You will have to play a very patient game on occassion if it goes down.
I myself would be more inclined to fit a 5C bi weave, but thats just how I view it..I like the regen when bump stopping, between attacks etc..

I would also look to beef that hull a little if possible, maybe at least a size 2 hull protection.

This is my main piracy vessel, and that hull saves me from a lot of grief, and the shields although small are more than adequate, and on for a lot of the time.

I also have no qualms switching them off for silent running... Cop evasion can be useful... And they then come back fast.

Well i looked at that link of mine... And for some reason shields are not showing as grade 4 thermals with fast charge...

Heres the proper stuff,

Thank you! it is a nice Viper4 build, too. I guess, I will go for the 5 Biweave and a 2D Hull in my Asp. 72 to Cargo left should be allright! As I see from the Viper-build, you use Beams and Seekers to drop shields and destroy modules, don´t you? As I am a noob in piracy, is this a good way to get that tasty cargo within a certain time of training?

I just take shields out with beams and the odd missile, and then drives with seekers. If drives are out, they cant jump.

Players though are a huge different kettle of fish.

I usually just try to grab a small amount of cargo off them in this. 1 or 2 ton would be considered a success against a player.

Npc piracy and player piracy are very different events in my experiance, and require quite different approach with the smaller ships..
