Ship Builds & Load Outs question on DPS and Sustained DPS

I have a question about the three Frag Turrets found on this:


This is not the final load out, I am just asking about the turrets.

The one in the large mount is one I have left over from the old engineers and whilst it only has a 173 DPS, it has a systeained DPS of 76
The two in the huge points are each engineered under the new rules:
the top is eng. with overcharged dps 243, sustained dps 60.8
the 2nd is dbl shot dps 222 and sustained dps 66

they all have scrrening shell which bumps the sustained dps on the top two from 30-ish to 60-ish

so, should I keep the old with the sustained dps of 76 or upgrade to the new with better dps but a lower sustained-dps

I've not been able to find a guide to help me decide
 
SDPS is generally a better measure, as it takes reloading time into account. Screening shell cuts your loading times in half.

Frag turrets on a corvette can be fun since turreted, especially rapid, can fire faster than I can hammer the fire button, but be aware that they won't fire until you're right on top of them. I've got one on the large hardpoint on mine (which has a horrible fire arc compared to all the other hardpoints) and it makes ramming things very fun.

Seriously. Frag turrets are good for one thing, and that thing is putting them on a ramboat.
 
Thanks, I have two Corvettes with frag turrets on the L-point; as you say it's not a good placement, so I can forget about it. I just could not decide whether to de-legacy this particular turret.

But if you like frag turrets, try an all-frag-turrent FGS ... <grin> you either fly the SLF yourself or chase the slf after you've told the pilot which target to target
