Question on gifting the game to others from the store

Hello

I have 2 questions.

1. Is it possible to buy the game to gift to someone else? If so how do you do that? I have looked in the store but it isnt obvious. Once I buy the game (again) would i get a product key that I can give to someone else?

2. Does the Odyssey Deluxe edition include the base game? The standard Odyssey says you need the base game, but the deluxe edition it dosnt. I want to gift the complete game including Odyssey.

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this question. I couldnt find anywhere else to post it and I dont want to bother support with such questions when they are there to support players.

I don't think you can gift Elite Dangerous to someone else. If you buy another copy of Elite Dangerous on your account it will be tied to you and can't be given away. A copy of Elite Dangerous for your friend will need to be purchased on your friend's account which they will need to set up. The same applies if you want a 2nd commander, you need to set up a second account and buy Elite Dangerous on that new account.

With regards to buying the full game, you need to purchase Elite Dangerous: Premium as the Deluxe version says it needs the base game under "Additional Requirements" at the bottom of the page. The Premium version says the base game is included.

The game is tied to a Frontier account, which is tied to an email address. You can set up a gmail (or similar) email addy for each copy of the game, and set up a frontier account for each using that. Give the intended recipients the usernames & passwords (which they should be able to change for privacy).

Not sure how happy Frontier's ToS would be about it if they were to find out though.

You can gift on Steam though (although buying for someone in another country was problematic last time I tried it).
