Question on Imperial Slaves Outside of the Empire

I have noticed that there are systems outside of the Empire and without any Empire factions present which will allow the trade of Imperial Slaves. From a lore point of view I assume that this trade must be legal outside the Empire under Imperial Law, but is this actually the case?

I would be worried about any Imperial Slaves who were moved outside of systems with an Imperial presence because there would seem to be an increased chance of their rights not being respected. Especially being returned to the Empire as a full citizen at the end of their contract. What do others think?

I smuggled a lot of them in a lot of places.Once they are delivered, it's out of my hands :)
Surely I don't expect them to be treated in a civil manner outside the Empire, they're all savages out there.

For illegal / legal goods it doesn't really matter what the Empire thinks about it. If you sell them to an Anarchy or independent faction there is nothing the Empire can do about it. From a lore point of view it's possible that they stop being imperial slaves and become regular slaves though. Or they are bought buy former imperial citizens.

From a lore point of view ... Imperial Slavery isn't everything that the Imperial propagandists make it out to be. Some of the best examples can be found in the anthology collection Elite: Tales From the Frontier. The quality of life of an Imperial Slave goes steadily down the farther you get from Achenar.
