Newcomer / Intro Question on Navigating - Plotting a course...

Hi there.

Quick question..When plotting a route to system that is too far away I understand that the broken line in the Galaxy map means I can't get that far. So does that simply mean if I really want to get to that far away system I have to fly as far as the solid line goes and then refuel? Then plot the course again to the system I want to visit and then I can continue along the calculated route? Basically just keep refueling each time I reach the system where broken line starts?

Thanks.

Yes, you can fly as far as the broken line on the fuel that you are currently carrying but I would suggest that you do not leave a refuel on the last hop as a station or star may not be available in the system, thus leaving you with no fuel and no where to go except self destruct.

That's an excellent point!! Cheers!

If you have a scoop I find refuelling a little and often is a good approach. It ensures you are not hanging around too long looking like a target and most of the time gets you to your destination. If you check the map occasionally you will see that the element of your route with the dotted line gets shorter as you top up.

No scoop just plan to stop at regular points. Even if you don't need fuel at that point. As previous poster said you don't want to get into a run of systems with no stations when you are running low on fuel.
