Question on Powerplay Merits.

Hi,

Can someone tell me how I know how far I am towards my next ran in Powerplay please.:S

I am at rank 2 and have 220 merits for this week but I can't see where my total merits is for the 750 I need for the next rank.

Or am I mistaken and need to get a total of 750 in one week?

Thanks,

Open the rating tab in the Powerplay section, ie the thing with the Preparation, Expansion and Control tabs and the picture of your glorious leader.

There you will see the number of merits you carried over from last week plus the 220 you earned so far. Then you will see the total which is the sum of the two other numbers. As long as that total hits 750 before the end of the week you will get the rank.

There are many aspects of merits which confuse people but this part (carried + earned = total) really is as simple as it looks.

Hi furrycat,

Thanks for the reply!

So I am right in saying that you need to get the required credits for the next rank in 1 week, by either having enough made in that week or the total of the carried over plus this weeks merits?

What happens if I do not claim the previous weeks and the weeks before, I appreciate they they decay in value, do they then total up to what I need for the next rank?

How is it possible to get the higher ranks if you have to get enough in 1 week plus the previous unclaimed?

It sounds an impossible taks unless you fast track the merits?

That is correct.

When you say "claim" I suspect you are referring to the vouchers you get for pewpewing enemy ships. They need to be claimed in the week as they will just expire at the end of the week; don't hoard them! Until you cash them in you don't have any merits.

Your rank is calculated based on the merits you have, whether from cashing in vouchers, delivering supplies (which grants merits immediately) or carried over. Once you have the merits they automatically carry over - albeit with decay - so you don't need to "claim" them again.

Hi furrycat,

Thanks again for the reply.

What I meant by claiming was the credits I earned for the merits.)

The concept of having to earn so many merits in a week is surely flawed, 10,000 in 1 week!

You'd need to be playing full time or spend an enormous amount of money to achieve the top rank and surely it is not really worth all that effort and cash?

Then the time or money you need to maintain that rank?

It just doesn't make sense to me.8-((

You can't do it with transportation and waiting - you'd have to play 28 hours a day.

You can do it with fasttracking, but it's a grind and you'll lose 50 Million Credits.
In the successive weeks you'll only lose between 3 and 6 Million Credits per week due to fasttracking.

The Merits / fasttracking system is utterly broken. There's only one way to succeed in PowerPlay - which is attacking helpless traders (undermining).
