Hello Frontier,
I hope this message reaches the right person, but it’s one that I feel needs to be heard. I sent this message to customer service and they sent me here. Here it goes:
Hello Frontier,
First off, I would like to say that I am a huge fan of Jurassic World Evolution. I had left a positive review on Steam, which was received well. I have encouraged multiple friends to purchase it and have been really excited about the updates and DLC that you all have been producing up till now. Unfortunately, I have an issue that I am hoping you will be able to help me out with.
I saw today that Steam is having one of it's crazy sales so I went on to see if I could try and get a few games while they were on sale. I remembered Dr. Wu's DLC was out and went to check it out, when I was blown away by what I saw on the store page of Jurassic World. The base game cost 13$!
When I saw this I couldn't believe my eyes. Just a few months ago, this game was sold for 55$ or 60$ (for the deluxe edition.) Seeing the difference frustrated me slightly, knowing that I spent an extra 35+$ for a game that, while I loved it, has gotten cheaper despite it needing quite a few improvements at release. This issue isn't even what really is upsetting though. I understand sales happen and prices drop (this exponential drop just a few months after making everyone pay a lot more seems a little bit excessive, nonetheless,) but my real issue is the now PREMIUM edition of Jurassic World Evolution.
When the game came out, I was going to buy the game full price no matter what. When I saw I could get more dinosaurs in the Deluxe Edition I did not hesitate to purchase that one instead. I knew future DLC was going to come out but I was excited to get the Deluxe Edition and have everything the game had to offer at the time. If there had been a premium edition when it came out, I definitely would have gotten that one! But there wasn't.
Now there is. It contains the base game and the three expansions, and how much is it? 38$. When I saw that I could not believe it. Granted, I am happy I had the game since release time, so that adds value to what I paid, but the price difference still stung. But you know what, that isn't even my big issue. I just want the expansions that I don't have. So knowing that I got the Deluxe Edition, I figured this should at least get me the bundle, solely with the DLC that I am missing, a lot cheaper. When I added the premium edition to my cart, guess what- "You cannot purchase this bundle unless you have not purchased any of the items within the bundle." I might be paraphrasing but the point is clear.
I purchased the game full price.
I purchased it as a Deluxe item.
The price has dropped to the price of a mobile game.
The DLC is nicely packaged in a beautiful bundle of the premium variety. Yet can't be bought to include the previous purchases within the edition.
There is ZERO support for anyone who purchased it at full price, and ZERO discount as well.
It is almost like those who purchased the game originally, mind you, only a few months ago, have been punished with
1. A game that started with unfinished updates.
2. A Deluxe Edition that would prevent the future purchase of a premium version.
3. A sobering reality that you can purchase the entire game with all DLC for 20$ less than the base game was just a little while ago.
This precedence that is being set is off-putting and could be catastrophic for future games and updates for those games. It isn't showing value to the customers that gave you the most support when it was needed.
I hope my long point is clear. I believe that there should be something that can be worked out for those who purchased the game full price and especially for those who purchased the Deluxe version.
I love this game and I love what you all are doing with it. I just don't like what has happened on the financial side of it.
This message is sent in hopes of a little support for those who bought full price and early on.
Thanks for listening.
