Horizons Question on Ranking?.

At present I am Independent and unaligned with any of the 3 majors. I am though a member of a local faction with the majority influence in approx 15 nearby systems, this faction is aligned with the Federation. As part of my being a member of this faction I can only take missions from them and must sell all my exploration data to them at our home base. This works fine for me I keep to the rules mostly and I have been very successful as a faction member. As over time a lot of faction missions I have taken have been sub contracted from the Federation I have without being directly aligned to them gained the rank of at present 75% Petty Officer. Although I am quite happy with my fleet of 5 ships I think that I would like perhaps to sell up move about a bit and be more of a drifter in just one ship, and to this end I quite fancy a Federal Corvette. My question is would I get more and better ranking missions by aligning myself to the Federation in order to rank up faster to the necessary standing to buy a Corvette or doesn't it matter?.

Hey there :)

Aligning yourself to a Federation power doesn't increase the gain of reputation and ranking toward that given superpower - It is only a matter of target destroyed for the Federation and the amount of missions ran for the superpower.
Once you reach 100%, a mission may pop in the Missions Board. Accomplish the task and continue to fight in the Conflict Zones (for the Federation), to process missions (for the Federation). You can also combo these two.

Thanks for confirming what I had thought, so I'll stay unaligned then.
