Newcomer / Intro Question on skipping engineering grades.

Hi, so lets say I am doing my G3. The circles hasnt reached the max (full circle) yet but the G4 becomes available. See pic attached.

You basically can skip the remaining G3 and start on the G4 without any negatives right?

What, really?
I always thought if you went to G5 - for example - without fully completing 4 would result in a slightly decreased maximum value - miniscule though the difference would be.

NGL I've always thought it takes more matt's to max out the next tier upgrade. Probably just the placebo effect but I've never actually bothered to research it. Lol
