Newcomer / Intro Question re. comms panel

When I say "comms panel" I mean the top LHS UI panel.

I can access this panel with <shift> W, move along the top bar icons with Q, and select the icon with <space bar> - so far so good.

However, the icon near the RH end, the three horizontal parallel lines (don't know what it signifies) has a small number "2" next to it - which I take to mean that there are two "messages" or whatever to see. BUT I don't seem to be able to access this icon with <space bar> or anything else for that matter. Anyone educate me?

If the spacebar is expanding/opening the other tabs I don't know what has gone wrong. Mine is bound to the same button as Target Ahead, you can check the bindings in the UI section of the controls.

That one is for notifications and is where you get told about changes to your rank or reputation with various groups, it is also where bonus missions and messages/warnings about missions are displayed. The small number indicates how many unread messages there are.

It actually does expand as soon as you get there using Q and E.

If no messages show, then there aren't any. However, there's a bug where it shows a number for unread messages that have been auto-deleted by the system. So sometimes it shows a number, but there's really no messages.

That's all it is.

it's a bit tricky to set it up in the keybindings ... but basically you need a key or a button for changing tabs, which is not assigned to anything else.

I cannot comment on keyboard bindings but for me on HOTAS, moving between the tabs on the Upper LHS UI is exactly the same as moving between the tabs on the two main left and right panels. (i.e. for me, Left and Right Stick hat 2)

Sometimes you receive a message about mission changes or additional reward. If you then complete the mission without reading the message, sometimes the notification will remain, but the message is gone. It usually disappears on jump or sometimes you have to re- log.

Hi. I have this issue on Xbox one where it says 2 msgs are unread but I have read them. What do you mean re-log? Can I get rid of this number it's annoying the hell out of me.

I meant turn the game off and back on. That usually clears the notifications for me.

Ah, ok don't think that will sort the Xbox version out as I have restarted machine and game couple of times. I'll check for other solutions Chris , thx

The other solution is to receive another message, read it and delete it. Sometimes it takes the other notifications with it. Good luck
