Horizons Question regarding buffer lock crash

After starting her up again after several crashes that happened in the same star system, I managed to land on the planet I was near to and noticed I was getting graphical errors. These are common when overclocking or if your card is damaged. I can rule this out because the card is working correctly in all other scenarios and I am not overclocking. This can also happen if data uploaded to the card is corrupt, where some vertex data gets messed up and I guess it could also happen in shaders, especially complex ones which I imagine this game uses.

Screen shot of this error, which I;m wondering is related to this common crash problem:

If this is the graphics card overclocking problem then the only way that seems to fix it (for ED) is to lower the clock speed.
Don't forget that even if you haven't over clocked the card it might be a factory over clocked one.
The only way to know for sure is to lower your clock speed and see if the error is still there.

It's a strange one, I mean I'm running an overclocked GTX 960 on an overclocked Amd 860k and have had absolutely no problems whatsoever.

That is apart from an issue where Windows 10 would crash the driver on any game after "waking it up" from hibernation/sleep, where that exact error would pop up after 5 mins or so of play. If I played ED, or any other game after a full restart the pc would play away without issue.

Eventually I set Windows to never sleep or hibernate and since then I've never had the issue.

Because it kept crashing with the same error on regular intervals I went for a full refund. If the devs ever bother to fix their engine then I may buy this game again in the future.

That's a shame. Most of us are playing without issues. I can play for 6 hours straight without a problem. If you're on Windows 10, I highly recommend getting Windows 7 (or heck even Windows 8.x). Windows 10 is trash.
