Question regarding supercruise speed.

So last night I was heading to a station some 700k LS from the nav point, during supercruise I ramped up to just over 1100c at which that point my speed started to auto throttle down. So my question is why does the speed automatically throttle down? I did not touch the keyboard or mouse at all during this.

Your distance from other masses determines your maximum SC speed. Your throttle is a % of your top speed and doesn't actually move unless you change it yourself.
