question regarding the enhanced beta (the gamma?)

I realise this is not the release date of the full retail version however...

when the game does officially go gold, I take it we wont have all our stats reset?

It would hurt if 50hrs+ of progress be wiped and have to go back to the start

Michael from Frontier Development has stated that if nothing very upsetting happens during Gamma there will be no reset at the end of Gamma.

if a reset has to be done at that point it would be nice to get the equivalent amount of credits to buy all or most of the stuff we lost if that is possible.

Probably not, because "anything upsetting" means, for example, dupe exploits, money hacks etc. that might be found in the gamma.

I wonder if one can accrue credits in offline game mode and then use the same character in online mode to spend on a new ship or upgrades, because I'm sure most people might go that route.

I don't think that will be possible - and rightly so (but I ain't an expert).

Offline commanders can't then be used online, that's confirmed.

I would doubt that very much, mainly due to modding/hacking/trainering(?) the games files to give you whatever you wanted.

well in that case i would hope there will be warnings prior to reseting the whole thing, at least to be able to spend the money we've been collecting for hours in an interesting way instead of letting it just disapear, because that would be upsetting too.

Doubt that too. In my experience of wipes and roll-backs in other games, the wipe/rollback was done with no warning, and then a communication was put out explaining why.
Generally because of catastrophic exploit abuse.
