Newcomer / Intro Question regarding transferring equipment

Hi.

I've just got back from an exploration trip, and I'm stripping my Cobra down to respec it.

I've got a pair of really juicy D2 beam lasers on it that I'd like to transfer over to my combat Viper (there's a high-intensity conflict zone nearby).

I can't for the life of me remember the station where I bought them. If I sell them and switch ships, will they appear as a buy back option in outfitting?

Thanks.

Yeah, this gets me too.
Another thing. It seems once you have bought and installed, say a laser, then you cannot transfer it to another hardpoint. Am I right in this? If not then please inform how to.

Yes you can switch ships and then buyback... I did this quite recently when upgrading from Adder to Cobra.

Usually works, but I've found it to be spotty. Usually the gear I sold is there in buy back, sometimes it isn't.

Where the "buy" and "sell" buttons are located, there is a "swap" button if the gear in the hard point qualifies (if it can for in one of the other hard points).

You can use the swap function to swap weapons between hardpoints.

Be aware of the class of weapon though. A class 2 medium weapon will not fit on a small class 1 hardpoint. Maybe that's why you have not been able to do it in the past?

You can install small weapons on medium hardpoints but there is no reason for this. Don't fly around with class 1 (small) weapons in class 2 (medium) hardpoints. You can afford bigger more powerful weapons on medium hardpoints.

Remember the class is irrelevant with weapons, they have different letters to help distinguish them ONLY . There is only one 1 fixed beam for size 2 hardpoints etc.

Yeah - I realised after getting back in the Viper that I had beams on my class 1 slots, while I had multi-cannon on my class 2.

In my defense, it's been a few days since I was in the Viper. The exploration trip I made was 650LY one way.

Thanks for info guys. It's only now that I am thinking of buying upgraded weapons, but I was just wondering if one could transfer a weapon from a medium HP to an empty small HP. I'll find out if the swap works for this requirement.

I want to try some bounty missions but I only have 2 Class 1 pulse lasers, the ones that came with the Viper I'm currently flying. I have a feeling that they are not up to the job.

Small to medium: OK.
Medium to small: not OK.

The pulse lasers will do a job, just not, in my opinion, the one you want them to if you bought a Viper.

Some people prefer pulse lasers. Personally, I prefer beams. I like my steak flash fried.
