question to the explorer experts

over the last days i was doing exploring with my Anaconda in the Rift / soul area and stumbled over the Base Camp station (Soul Sector EL-Y d7 [Base Camp] )
Found a lot water worlds and handed in ~100MIL credits of exploration.

my questions:
1. how are the chances to find another station like this in deep space? are there any?
2. this may sound stupid: is there anything else to discover apart from stars and planets? are there signal sources in deep space?

thx o7

oh yes - quite a lot in numbers (but obviously not in percentage of systems).
especially in your general direction there are also the project dinasty surface site to find.

there are USS, but especially there are NSP - Notable Stellar Phenomenons to find.

rigth hand panel, 'codex' gives you an idea what could be found in the galactic region you are at.

There are roughly two dozen of these asteroid stations outside of the Bubble, and they are generally placed near obvious landmarks like nebulae, so if you're doing a scenic tour you've a fair chance of finding them if you visit a lot of systems.
There are also a small number of orbital structures and remote megaships to be found (I'm not sure whether they're still out there, e.g. the liner that was plying the spaceways out somewhere between Heart & Soul and the Bubble), again, if you're visiting scenic locations or going to tourist beacons you may run in to them. And there are various sites with ruins and suchlike as goemon mentions.
Of course these days you've also got a very good chance of running in to Fleet Carriers in some areas, so if you're looking for a place to sell data etc. then have a look at the DSSA fleet, they're all over the place. :)

grins I'm reliably informed there's at least one Megaship out beyond Heart & Soul. ;)

Short(ish) answers....

1. You discovered 1 Base Camp, why not more.

2. Yes there are signal sources in deep space. There's also other stuff like "La Grange" clouds and other space stuff etc. And also there are rumours of a place called Raxxla.

Another note:
are there signal sources in deep space?
Basically, there are two kinds: unique ones that Frontier manually placed for plot reasons, and generated ones that show up under the right conditions.

Now, the plot-based ones are generally quite close to the bubble, likely so that people don't have to go far for them. To date, the only ones that aren't are the Project Dynasty stuff that's right where you are.

The generated signal sources do have plenty unique to them which you won't find in inhabited space, but the SS-es far out in the deep appear to be exclusively a wrecked ship with a data cache floating around. (Which you can only sell for credits, you can't get anything else out of the caches.) In uninhabited space closer to the bubble, you can on occasion find more complex stuff, such as convoys of explorers, but you pretty much have to be looking for these, because chances are you aren't going to stumble upon them. The reason being that their spawn rates aren't that good (last time I checked, which was years ago), and jump ranges have inflated to the point that you'll likely head out of this area in, say, three jumps or so.

Then as others have mentioned, there are NSPs - oh hey, I wrote a guide about them.

The signal sources can be hit or miss depending on where you are in the galaxy. They're most definitely not common once you've left the Bubble or are flying through space away from nebulae. As for the stations, I hope there are still things to be found out there, but with 400 billion stars, the odds are against us.
