Question: why wasn't JWE done in the Planet Zoo engine?

As far as I'm aware, both games use the same engine, the big difference here is that JWE is multi platform, and Planet zoo pc exclusive, not only performance limitations make those differences, but also game design , but this is only my guess. I only hope,if JWE2 is a real thing, combines the very best of Frontier's mechanics.
Oh my gosh... three minutes in and Planet Zoo already has more creative options and depth than JWE has had since launch over a year ago... that's just pathetic...

Planet Zoo uses a heavily modified/upgraded Cobra engine. That's why they didn't use it. Probably because the engine was still in development when JWE was being worked on. Also it would probably be too demanding for current consoles.
It's not. It's a completely new version of the Cobra engine. Even more modified than the version of Cobra that JWE uses.
Planet Zoo is also a PC exclusive. So comparing it to JWE which is also on consoles is pretty much pointless. JWE suffers from console limitations. Basically it's dumbed down for console audiences. Also the fact that the game also has to work with controllers limits it as well. It's not just the console audience and hardware.
