Engineers Questions about multipurpose engineers/horizons ship.

Hello there fellow commanders. Horizons/engineers is being released next week for Xb1, and I have a couple questions for those of you who have already been playing horizons/engineers.

Right now I have an imperial cutter, a maxed cobra and a maxed FDL. I have around 220 million saved, and was planning on going ahead an A rating an Anaconda. I want an all purpose ship for horizons and engineering missions. My questions are:

1. Is the anaconda suitable for landing on planets, and doing engineering missions?

2. How much cargo room should I have for storing materials for engineers and mod upgrades?

3. Is an anaconda a bad idea, and if so why ?

I'm just looking for a bit of advice, or if any ships would be better for landing, running around collecting, and battling.
I would use my FDL, but jump range and cargo isn't practical, and I want something a bit more stout than my cobra for combat/getting materials from destroyed ships, especially with the improved AI. Also I didn't know if the anaconda is a bad idea now, with the smaller ships going ninja on people. I can hold my own in my FDL, but haven't battled with any large ships yet.

I also thought maybe an asp or a python would fit that role too, both can carry good amounts of cargo and are decent at combat.

I was planning on getting anaconda soon anyways, and I planned on major trading this Holliday weekend. Any input or ideas from those who know will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The 2.1 patch is one that we are still getting used to. What I would say is that the original purpose for each ship is more meaningful now than it has ever been.

Small fast ships have more purpose, bigger ships can be more of a liability at present than they are worth if used for combat.

Any ship can land on planets as long as the right size landing pads are there out a base, or failing that, anywhere on a planet with a flat piece of land.

I am still considering what type of ship to settle with at present. I am using an anaconda and a FAS for combat. But haven't tried my other medium ships yet but I will upgrade one, maybe the clipper or FDL if I can increase the FSD with engineers to acceptable levels.

With the new Ai I think thruster speed is very important now with bounty hunting as you may need to run and heal and turn back often. I have a feeling the Cobra, clipper and courier will be really OP in the coming months.

The materials for engineers you get by scanning everything like you already scan ships. You also pick them up after destroying other ships using your cargo scoop or limpets. You have a personal hold of 600 I think, this isn't used by your cargo space AFAIK.

I've been using a python so far, which I have found to be a good all rounder for most jobs.
Leaning towards a combat build to help stay alive though, but 80 ton cargo seems enough with the exception of some largeer haulage missions.
I've got a size 5 collector module (3 drones) for when I need to scoop quick and run.
Currently got about 30 tons of cargo for engineers I'm lugging about, data and materials don't use cargo space and you have limits of 200 data and 600 materials, which I have filled already with lots of new ones still to get.
I have found you have to be a lot more careful of pirates now as you are always carrying 'all that tasty cargo' so bear that in mind.
A good tip that might help is equip your smaller/medium ships with lots of cargo racks if you're not using them, so when you want to get into them, you don't have to dump a load of engineer cargo before you can.
I did think of getting an anaconda for more cargo space, but don't seem to need it atm, I've been having a great time with missions etc, and I visit a lot of outposts, so sticking with the python (although I'd love the 8 utility slots), I'm also not so keen on combat in the big ships.
If you do go python or anaconda, make sure you make use of flight assist off, or you'll never see your enemy.
Whatever you choose, have fun, we've got reasons to do different stuff now (bounty hunting, mining, missions, srv driving etc.)
ps. scan EVERYTHING !! and buy a wake scanner too...
pps. I'm loving it, it's as scary as when I first started, when every enemy was a major threat.
