Newcomer / Intro Questions about rep

Noob here, bear with me.


Okay first question: What is the benefits of minor faction rep? For example, lst night I just got friendly repwith the Belu values party or something like that. Everything turns green, which I assume is a good thing, and from what I understand that may give me access to more mission froms BB's in these stations. Is there any deeper meaning than that?


Second question. Say I'm a wanna-be badass for the Federation. I read somewhere that the Federation and the Empire have a deep hatred for each other. So say I decide to venture into Empire space and blow the out of everything I see, which I assume will make me KoS for the Empire in short order. If I return to Federation space, Security forces there dont care about my wanted status in the Empire, correct? As long as i remain in Federation space I should be safe except for the odd bounty hunter, right?

1) Rep with minor factions does give you access to more missions and a few other minor things, but nothing amazing.

2) The Federation and Empire do not hate each other, they disagree on several major topics, but they are just the same as any two large nations at peace. That being said, they do not have an extradition treaty, so if you have a wanted status with any one faction the others will ignore it.
