Newcomer / Intro questions about saving games

I have a couple of questions about saves
1. If im in middle of mission such as trading, on way to another planet or system. Can I stop and save game and come back later? When wife calls I gotta go
2. after saving, can my son play with his own ship and stats? Or do I need to purchase a game for him

1. yes but the mission timer carries on going so take that into account or face the consequences of lost rep/fines for failure to complete the mission.

2. no, the game currently only has one save slot so you will need to buy a copy for your son to play on at this time (this should change later but how much later nobody knows) make sure you register your sons account with a different email address on the store though or it will be unusable as you can only have one account registered per email address.
