Newcomer / Intro questions about selling sidewinder

I don't have the game yet, joystick coming Friday and then the download, but reading the forums I came up with an interesting question. So you start with a sidewinder, you sell your weapons and some modules, sell most of what you can. Fly out of starport, maybe crash or self destruct. Get a new sidewinder, repeat, wash rinse. Pretty soon you have enough credits to upgrade. Does this work?

no sorry. in the equipment screen, all of that stuff is marked as 'loaned' with a value of 0cr.

Also a newbie here so I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the starting weapons can't be sold.

Ah got it. makes sense, would have been to easy to upgrade
