Questions about the Thememaker

Are we capable of designing benches/tables and bins that guests can interact with?

Will we get to see animated stuff?

Can we include sound effects with the objects?

Can we include custom objects in our blueprints?

What if the original creator deletes an object, will I still have the object?

Will my shared blueprints still include the object when other people download it?

Will we ever get custom entertainers?

Are you going to show some screenshots of it in action soon?

I'm really excited to see what people make for nature, rocks, plants, rivers, critters, etc! [cool]

Questions from breezerHOG in white, answers in red;

Are we capable of designing benches/tables and bins that guests can interact with?
No. Thememaker's Toolkit can, once released, only be used to create scenery. It is currently unknown if this will be expanded in the future.

Will we get to see animated stuff?
Yes. You can create static and animated scenery items.

Can we include sound effects with the objects?
No. Objects are made up of a 3D model, textures and, if you choose so, keyframes for animation.

Can we include custom objects in our blueprints?
Unknown. However, you can share custom objects with the Steam Workshop, so this might be possible. We will have more information on limitations closer to the release date of the Thememaker's Toolkit, which will be later this year.

What if the original creator deletes an object, will I still have the object?
Yes, you will still have the objects, since those are saved in C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster\TMT or the Steam folder on your local computer.

Will my shared blueprints still include the object when other people download it?
Assuming that you can include custom objects in your blueprints, yes.

Will we ever get custom entertainers?
Unknown at this time.

Are you going to show some screenshots of it in action soon?
We will be publishing user guides on the Thememaker's Toolkit website once that is ready to launch.

Great to know that you will finally be able to get those little critters and other objects that you have been requesting since before the launch of the game. :)

I think its very possible it'll be expanded on in future, custom flat rides etc... It would be really cool if Frontier had like a "piece by piece" ride seats and stuff...
What I'm most looking forward to is ride signs! coz every ride from the release on-wards will be able to have a nice custom ride sign, I was also thinking how when people have tried to make something like Big Thunder Mountain, and done terrains, they'd probably make a big large facade (correct word?) instead now instead of using the terrain editor.

To think people may also use the same textures as the terrain editor to make proper flat/rectangular holes in from now on too, depending on whether of course they get the texture correct, like... I'm really happy and looking forward to seeing what people do with this, I know obviously we're going to see a lot of Disney pop up, and it'll deffo help creative parks we know and love in real life :D

And stuff like statues! we could make with our very own mascots outside a park, it'll be like... endless creativity <3

Ok, I really want animated railroad crossing signals and gates that are triggerable like the Vodhin ones from RCT3. So, this will be possible now? We need StationJim and Vodhin back from RCT3 to bring their awesome content to Planet Coaster!

Does this mean, I can import my locomotives and used them as alternative models for the Iron Horse and Connie Express rides?

Nope, at the moment, the Thememaker will be scenery objects only. They can be animated tough it will work from walls & decorations over plants, trees & flowers up to theoretical signs, animatronics and large scale scenery objects.

This will not mean, that there will never be a update with ride, lights and peep-interactive objects supported, but it also doesn't say it will. We have to wait if and how this feature will be expanded over time.
But even the possibility of custom objects up to animatronics makes me excited.

I've seen some names here and on other PlanCo boards wich are well known from the best times of RCT3 custom scenery and i have no doubt, that these great artists will put at least the same work and dedication to Planco, as they've did with RCT3. So I'm sure there are great times ahead for PlanCo.

Will Frontier give us some Basic Objects like a Wall set (which would solve problems with fitting to other themes)?

Or maybe a base character model (as base for animated or static humans)?

Is it maybe possible to edit in-game models?

Can I edit an object later again from the Blueprint?

Can someone else edit my model from the Blueprint and claim it as his own work?

Hmm your first question is very interesting to me.

Also i would like if you can choose wheater or not an item is gridbased (and which kind of grid : Center/Side/Corner)?

I have start to make some models for a possible CS creation tool, shortly after the public release. Now as I knew the supported formats, I must test and see if they will work later in the Toolkit. My old RCT3-objects can you find under my old alter ego „RCTSpanky“.

I Know your RCT3 creations very well and enjoyed them many years. [wink] Sadly, with RCT3 the stability of the Game was hurt by many objects and you had to be really careful how and where you install them, I hope with a official support from the devs we can avoid this with PlanCo. [big grin]

Ah! I didn’t know you were one in the same as RCTSpanky! Been a fan of ugc in rct3! Of memory serves me correctly I used your Asian wall set :)

my questions are:
Grid-snapping option? (like the building walls etc)

Color trigger? (where you can trigger it to change color)

Will frontier be able to supply a set of standard pieces as fbx files?

wall pieces, floors, and a couple of station segments will make modeling custom areas much simpler.
being able to recreate a station or scenery block out from the game in max/maya before working over the top of it will be very useful for elaborate stations and buildings - will cut down trial and error massively.

Ok, I really want animated railroad crossing signals and gates that are triggerable...

It will be possible to make triggerable gates (fun!), but guests will not be aware of the gates.

An idea for a way around this could be a "triggerable" barrier, that only blocks guests when triggered for whatever length of time. We don't have anything like that currently though. A programmable barrier to hide in ground would be a good idea for a lot of uses where you could temporarily control the flow of guests.

Regarding the idea of custom sound with custom built animations, there would be nothing stopping you using custom sounds the way you currently do. If sharing your park you'd need to make available the custom sound files in the description of your... blueprint? Come to think of it, surely they would allow custom assets to be included in blueprints. I hope so. Something tells me they *may* not allow this.
