Questions about UN-Instigated kill by guards.

I went to a nearby station on the same planet I was docked at. I was walking around checking things out.
And next thing I know I am getting shot at by guards, and my ship got destroyed as well.
I did nothing wrong, I did not shoot at anyone, didn't even have my weapon out.
I didn't do anything illegal and did not have any illegal things on me. WTH.!?

Do I lose everything I had in the inventory storages of the SRV, Suit and Ship?
I had a bunch of ores like Iron and so many other resources.
I am so confused, still trying to figure things out. SMH

ALSO:
Why am I in a completely different system after I died ?
I am in Capricorni Sector FM-V-B2-0 - But I was in Chamberlane's Rest Station. (My Home Planet & Station)
OMG, what am I doing all the way out here so far from my station?

So confused. so so confused...

The only stuff lost is what is in your backpack. Once it is in your SRV/ship it cannot be lost.

I second the not stopping when ordered that caused you to shoot. If the base was not active and populated by scavs, they would take you out. Or you could be hostile to that faction.

I checked I am neutral to all so far , all I have been doing is exploring and scanning.
No combat or combative missions. Everything is just going onto planets getting ores, and scanning and exploring.
Playing this game, I have never used google so much that my fingers are numb typing in goggle.

The silly guards want to scan you all the time, even if you are behaving. I guess because so few people behave in the Elite universe. If your sound is down, you might not hear someone behind you ordering you to stop and be scanned - and if you don't stop walking they will start shooting.

You got sent to a prison so you did something wrong. You should have looked at the screen shown after you lost consciousness, it would have told you the reason you were attacked.
