Questions regarding a new Player Faction.

A group of friends and I are looking to start a new player faction in Elite, with all the fun that entails.

However, we've run into some questions that don't have up to date, or any answers at all. Obviously not being helped by the fact that 3.3 changed up everything.

First things first. I've submitted a player group (not faction) application via the google form. Am I to expect a reply to this, or not? I sent it in on Jan 5th, have yet to hear anything back asides the E-mail regarding "these are the answers you submitted" from google itself.

Second off, how long does it usually take for a minor faction to be added to the game, once the faction application is completed? We're trying to take over a system that is currently maxed out on NPC factions, but we're working on removing one of them. Obviously, we can't submit the application until that faction is gone, but I'd imagine that sort of territory won't stay empty forever, especially with so many systems in Investment/Expansion as they are now. Is it even (time wise) feasible to remove factions from systems in an attempt to take that system as your starting system?

And finally, what is the best way (post 3.3) to work directly against a faction? Doing missions for the other factions, or killing that factions ships? What has the greater and faster impact on influence?

Appreciate the assistance,
CMDR Borg184

Someone who applied for a PF recently got it inserted next day. I didnt know yiu could even apply for a PG without it being in game, but if that is taking an age, I can only suggest it is low priority because it seems a entirely pointless thing to do.

Assuming your enemy doesn't have assets, just work for factions that are not conflict locked. However, given the bugged state of the bgs, do not at all be surprised if your victim suddenly gets 5% from nowhere, or stubbornly refuses to go into retreat.

Noted, thanks. I frankly didn't expect a response to filling out the player group forum, I figured it was sort of just a "alert FDev to a new group in the game" forum. But I did read a post on these forums that seemed to imply that you were supposed to get a response, so I didn't quite know what to expect.

Getting PMF added is much easier now than it was originally.

First time I tried about a year and a half ago, the faction didn't get added by Fdev with no communication as to why.

Sort of lost interest in the game for a bit after that, but tried again last October and received email to say PMF was being added within days.

Very interesting, thanks for the replies. Now I just need to figure out the best way to work against a faction without racking up a massive bounty and 10 notoriety.

It would be nice if FDev considered PP implications of PMF insertions.

But maybe they don't know what those might be...

Since this rash of PMF's joining the Galaxy, we have had several not very friendly confrontations with PMFs who believed they now "owned" a system.

the PMF that I'm trying to build is more of a community rather than a future power trip. i've owned this game for 4 years now, I'm just not sure if I should reapply tomorrow what do yall think?

They had a plan for that. They wanted to remove the ethos considerations from all but the control systems, which would mean PP wouldn't care about exploited and contested systems for BGS anymore. They were also going to make Superpower allegiance count in addition to govt type. So, for one exampe, all the Imperial Corporations we keep seeing wouldn't matter anymore.

AFAIK they abandoned it because of short sighted people in the community. But it would have fixed the BGS component in PP colliding with PMFs.

I hope you recognized their right to control it and didn’t oppose them.

They abandoned the entire proposal.

I suspect the same based on nothing happening since that famous feedback thread and Sandro going to another project. How did you come to your conclusion?

Nothing in the proposal Sandro presented was specifically abandoned, though he vacillated a bit on the open-only aspect. But Sandro is on another project, features intended to be in 3.3 were pushed back, and Frontier has not followed up on powerplay at all with the community. Not that I blame them particularly.

While it was disappointing that nothing ever came of the OOPP proposal, I feel a sense of relief that Frontier has also not moved to appease those bleating for a PvP-free version of open.
