Questions regarding several subjects

Hi everyone, since I couldn't find any of these answered in this forum... sorry if i overlooked them...
First of all, Is it possible to make a living and get to the anaconda (in a decent time) without trading? I'd like to hunt bounty, but it doesn't seem to play well... I'd like to hear some tips from experienced bounty hunters...
That leads me to my second question: Which subsystems do i need to aim at to deny them to frameshift away? I lost some pretty big kills recently because they did not care that i was about 300 meters behind them and just jumped out... i know it's because my ship is small and they had bigger ships, and possibly better FSD's, but thee must be a way to deny cobra or Typ 6 transporters their way out.
Well i guess i should explain a bit:
I own an eagle i got with my mercenary starter pack, equipped with aslightly better power plant, distribution system and an additional 37k cr permanent beam.
I can handle anything up to a cobra or type 6, but

I heard a lot of good things about the adder, but is it good enoguht for the live of a bounty hunter or should i just skip it to get straight to the viper, or should i even go stright for the cobra?
My next question is about navigation signals: what's going on around them? i always see several ships fighting there, is it like a low intensity combat zone where you need to choose a side?
And where do i even find low intensity combat zones? i am near Kini and i have no idea where to even start searching, space is.... well big.
As far as i know it's 2 factions fighting each other in these zones, so if i choose for example the independent side and start shooting at federation ships, will i get a bounty in federation systems?

Next question regarding the bounty system:
I managed to shoot down a wanted viper near a navigation signal yesterday, and the blue bounty text appeared in the upper right side of my screen (about 20k), but when i got to a station, all i got was about 3,7k which was possibly for the hauler I shot down a bit later... so what happened, where did the 20k go?
I wasn't the only player shooting at that viper... did i only get a fraction of the reward? And shouldn't it show my real reward only then?

next question:
how exactly does the discovery reward system work, where can i sell data?
Because i got some data about systems 3-20 Lightyears away (from the station i was docked at) but couldn't sell anything...
Which stattions will take which data?

Next question about my Eagle again...
Is the nickname "Freagle" for fragile? or did i just see the same typo made by different people?
And what's the optimal equipment for an eagle, what do you recomment as a combat setup?

next question: When i go to a shipyard the data says, for example, "40 shield and 60 hull"
when i buy more expensive shields, does that increase this 40? It's a bit confusing since there aren't any numers anywhere, weapons also show no numbers, just some incredibly useless bars, and i have no idea how important armor penetration is and what "thermal charge" is... is it how much heat is produced by the weapon?
What does "optimal mass" for shield generators even mean? what's so important about the mass of a ship when it comes to shield generators, and how does it affect them/what happens when i put a shield on where the mass isn't optimal?
Do the Hitpoints of a ship increase when better armor is used? or is damage reduced? by how much?

If some terms here are wrong or confusing, it's because i use google translator to translate certain words like "thermal charge" from german to english.

Oh and if you accidentially deploy your weapons in the weapon free zone of a station, do you get annihilated immediately? Because appearently pretty much everything and everyone responisble for "security" kills you without any warning when you... cough or blink... (well for pretty much anything. hit someone on accident once and the entire system scurity fleet thinks you are the most evil being in the history of the entire universe -.- )
Do you get shot down for skulls as paintjobs? It may seem silly to ask this, but since the security can't take a joke i need to be sure what exactly will get me in trouble...
If i accidentially fly into some part of the station with low speed, do i die instantly?
I've seen some people getting pretty anxious to not scrach a station with an anaconda while trying to get to the hangar, does your ship just explode as soon as you touch anything else than a landing pad?
Are all assasination missions illegal? they seem to give pretty good rewards of 150k, but while some descriptions make it pretty clear that it's illegal, others don't warn about trouble with the law...

Oh and do missions get better later on?
I can't imagine someone getting an asp or even anaconda with missions that give 20k each...
Is the best thing for fighting (aside from anaconda) the asp, or is the cobra due to it's size and (i assume) better manouverability the best fighting vessel?

Last but not least, does insurance always pay 95% while i only need to pay 5% of my ships value? or is that osme kind of thing i got with my mercenary pack?
I do want to have enought cash to get my ship again when i die, anytime, but if that means i need to have 80k on hand every time i die, to get my eagle back... let's say i won't get myself a better ship anytime soon o_O .

Thanks for the answers.

The ships' earning potential and pricetags amount to stepping stones; getting an Anaconda quickly is unreasonable because a bare one is 140 some odd million and lot of smaller ships can clobber them in that state. For the sake of buying ships, don't buy the next one until you can afford the basic hull, some upgrades and three or four times the cost of the cargo in it. As you get into better ships you can carry more tons of more expensive cargo and that goes a long way toward upgrades. The missions change too, I've been offered numerous 150000+ assassination missions, usually well-fitted Anacondas. With that said I can shift the 96 tons of cargo that'll fit in the Asp I've got and make as much for a simple round-trip.

a) Getting the Anaconda... Depends on what you think is a decent time, if you are thinking weeks or months then probably not, you'll need to be very good at piracy or bounty hunting to get the same amount of credits as some of the larger hauler ships can pull in trading.

b) Adder seems a capable little ship, especially when specced up, but depends on what you want to do with it, you might struggle to take down an Anaconda with it (and get its chunky bounty)

c) There have been several people saying this, it may be a bug that has crept in or one of the transaction servers may have crashed, if the latter you may yet get it back. I haven't had it though.

d) Once you've mapped a system you need to get at least 20Ly away before selling it. If you're not far enough away it will appear in red.

e) "Freagle" as a lot of backers got a free one. They are fragile to start with, but mighty manoueverable though

f) Difficult to answer quickly, but basically the lower the letter the better the system. Shields work better and regenerate quicker as they get more expensive. But you can load up a ship so much that the shields struggle to maintain full coverage. Thermal charge means it generates heat as you suggested and you will need more pips to the weapons to get them cooled down. Armour is a bit of a mystery to me as I can't work out how the top two types are better than Military spec. At the moment I still have bog standard and use shield cells instead!

g) You shouldn't get destroyed instantly for firing accidentally, though in testing I was given a hammering. I now have the settings such that I can't fire accidentally on my joystick. Not sure how that would work on a keyboard though. Just depoloying them shouldn't make any difference.

h) Oh yes, as you progress you can get some tastier missions, best I've had was 20 Gold moved for 170,000cr which was great. But often get missions over 30 - 40,000cr

i) The rebuild cost of your ship is shown in the tabs on the right hand gui. It makes sense to have enough to repay your ship, 80k for an Eagle is much too high, my Cobra is only 108,882cr to rebuild and has been well specced up. Check the rebuild costs on yours. Tap 4 (normally) to get to the right hand GUI. Always remember that you will lose the value of your cargo if you get destroyed.

Hope this all helps. Good luck and profitable flying.

a)so in short, i should go trading to get an asp and later on, an anaconda in weeks to month?
do you recomment an adder for that (with changed setup for trading...), then typ 6 and then typ 7 and
b)a cobra should be capable of taking down anything, right? (well if an asp or anacona knows what it's doing, of course i stand no chance)
f)shield cells do only regenerate it while it's up, right? even in a fight while being shot at? or also give more capacity or durability?
what else do they do, the ingame description is a bit.... insufficient.
i) so the rebuild cost will stay at the tiny 5000 for my current eagle?
great news for me, since i always have 10 itmes that on hand and i plan to keep it that way, even te worse bad luck strean won't get me killed 10 times without earning anything... i hope.

Also, an asp has combined hull and shields of 350, but that's not just 3 times an eagle, right? larger vessels take less damage from smaller guns, don't they?)

FalconFly, thanks to you too, very helpful at understanding the game better.
So, since i do not like it when my target jumps away cobra will be my choice to slow their FSD down... I guess missiles or cannons are a good idea, too to finish the last hp's quick when they try to get away?
Oh and I can select certain subsystems in the left menu... does that target these systems, or...?
