Questions Regarding the Alliance

Ok, so I would like to first and foremost apologize for any redundancy. I have searched the forums but I can't go back and search 20+ pages to find sound bytes of possible answers. I'm making this post to clarify simple questions regarding the Alliance that some pilots who are already signed on can answer for us new folks who are making their way to Alliance space to help out against the pirates and other faction transgressors.
Questions are as follows:

1. Can a person join the Federation/Empire and still join the Alliance? With no ranks in the Alliance do they mind if you hold rank with another faction, or does it prevent you from accepting alliance permits once you obtain rank with another faction?

2. Is Alliance space a lawless civil war like the reports we have been getting, or can trading and rep missions beyond fighting be accomplished?

3. Is there any special decal for your ship you can get for being a friend of the alliance? It's in the lore but is it in game?

4. Is obtaining a permit for Allioth worth it, or it is more of a formality? I.e. there are rumors ships are cheaper in alliance space.

5. Given that there is no capital ship npc support for the alliance, how many players do we have out that way that are end-gameish folks? I say this because a lot of us new traders are afraid it is an utter-gank fest dropping out of hyperspace and we are wondering if you should get better ships before showing up.

Again sorry for any redundancy and if there is a topic that meets this criteria feel free to merge them.

-Thanks
Hopeful Alliance pilot in the near future.

Going by lore only here.

The Alliance has more or less a peaceful relationship with the Federation vs a more skeptical and guarded one with the Empire. I'd say if you're aiming to be an Alliance pilot choose carefully.

No special decals yet and systems are a mixture of high and low security, high especially around Alioth. I believe it is in Alioth that some ships are cheaper but you have to earn that permit and unlike Fed or Imperial permits it takes quite a bit of time and effort to get it.

We'll see when 1.3 comes out what sort of groups they will have for the Alliance.

1. Yes. I'm "allied" with all 3 major factions. You just have to watch out sometimes as a mission might lose you rep with someone you don't want to lose rep with.
2. Alliance space is generally safe, no major issues
3. No, not currently
4. No, not currently
5. No idea. Avoiding conflict is not too hard in this game most of the time.

I also started out as an "alliance only" pilot but ended up dealing with the other factions for various reasons - community goals, a desire to fly ships like the clipper etc. Still, you will never find slaves of any kind in my hold!

1. I'm Max ranks in fed and empire and now play in alliance space, you aren't tied down to any specific faction.

2. Its not anymore lawless than federation or empire.

3. No decal but would be nice.

4. Up to you its not essential but it does give discounted asp and I think orca.

5. I generally play mobius and solo but I think you are just as likely to be ganked in fed/empire areas as alliance areas.

1) You can become friendly or allied with the Alliance without it effecting your Federal &/or Imperial Ranks and Reputation
2) All the reports relate to a few systems, the rest of the Alliance is far from Lawless
3) Alas no Faction Decals for anyone at this stage
4) 20% of Asp and Orca in Alioth
5) I don't think I follow, The Allied Police Forces patrol Alliance space. Capital Ships are only found in conflict zones, and no the Alliance Parliament hasn't gotten together to Design and build any , but that shouldn't effect Traders....? Perhaps elaborate on what you mean.

My mistake, that was unclear. "Capital ships and npc support. . ." is what I meant. In the sense that there are no battle support groups if you jump into a system where heavy fighting is and declare yourself for the alliance. (If you can, I wouldn't know that either) I know about the patrol craft but us newer players kind of like the idea of declaring and then being supported by NPC ships in the fight. Therefore, if we do declare for alliance forces, are there player folks out there in endgame-ish ships to back us up or are we on our own.

You don't declare until you are in the conflict zone, but you are on you're own in the sense that there will be no Alliance Capital ships, but that doesn't mean the conflict zone wont contain Allied NPC Anacondas or Pythons etc
But then not every conflict zone involving the Federation or Empire will have a Capital ship either
