I wanted to put together a short video that shows people how to plan an exploration trip, from outfitting a ship to finding a location and getting to a destination.

Hope it helps some. :)

These builds are by no means the "perfect" exploration builds, but they are what I would personally use. Change and swap the Auto Field-Maintenance Units to suit your needs. And of course swap any other models for something you may prefer.

For me, these are the builds that balance jump distance well with fuel scooping as well as long exploration journeys and the ability to be self-sufficient.

lol usful stuff... I see you do not bother with shields on your DB EX.... I dunno.. I worry about this incase I am at sag A when the thargoids are introduced - or you get some (insert derogatory term here) who thinks it is funny to blow people up out there. a shield may give a player time to run then log off (when it is legitimate to do so).

That build should actually have a shield on - even if it is a smaller one. Too easy to crash into an asteroid or something. Thanks for spotting it, I will amend the build. :)

Just one comment, a 4A power plant puts out more power and weighs less than a 5D, if you have the credits for it.

Absolutely. Always go for lowest size A class power plant you can fit. Usually much less weight, sufficient power and most importantly more heat efficiency, therefor less chances to get heat damage when making mistakes.
