Quick question about missile launchers...

I need some dumbfire missile launchers for exploding surface-based stuff.

Setting engineering aside, for the moment, I see the C1 launcher has maximum ammo of 16 while the C2 launcher has maximum ammo of 48.

But then there's the "Advanced Missile Launcher" too.
The C1 Advanced launcher has maximum ammo of 64 while the C2 version, erm, also has maximum ammo of 64.

First question is, is there a down-side to using the Advanced Missile Launcher against regular targets rather than 'goids?
The DPS appears to be the same and the blurb says you can arm it with anti-'goid missiles which, to me, implies that it can also use standard missiles which, presumably, do the same damage as when fired out of a regular launcher.

The second question is, moving on to engineering, what happens when I engineer an Advanced Missile Launcher?
If I engineer a regular C1 missile launcher with G5 High Capacity, it's capacity goes up from 15 to 32.
If I was to apply the same mod' to an Advanced Missile Launcher, would I get an ammo capacity of 128 (Coriolis doesn't list the Advanced Missile Launcher)?

I have a lot of surface-based targets that I need to make go away. 😐

No downside that I’m aware of, in fact they are an effective weapon for small ships when engineered: very good DPS per energy used.

I'd imagine the advanced is only an issue if you like your premium synth ammunition, since that only does regular and AX IIRC.
As the owner of several high capacity advanced dumbfire missiles, I can confirm this is the only downside.
However the regular synthesis costs the same as a basic for regular missiles but it fully restocks your advanced rack, magazine included, so it's extremely cheap to use as a main damage source.

I've started using them as the go-to weapons for some of my small ship's C1s, add penetrator to break half of your target's internal modules in a few salvos or overload to help break their shields.
Overload is also 50/50 on thermal and explosive damage (97% sure of that), meaning it does fairly consistent damage to hulls regardless of what the target's bulkheads are.

Edit: Yes, you get 16/128 with high capacity. The C2 only gets 24/128, 8 more missiles, so not worth using if you've got a C1 on the same ship.

Collecting MEF, Biotech Conductors and EFC's one missile at a time.
