I want to throw a pair of these on my FAS, and I was wondering how much damage is reduced? It uses fuel for ammo for reduced damage, but it doesn't say how much.
Quick question about plasma slug rail guns.

From memory, -30% (changing from plasma slugs to regular gave me a +30% damage when I re-engineered it)

It does sound like it, but I have a pair of plasma slug railguns on my Eagle Mk.II and in practice they aren't much different from standard rail guns in terms of time to kill. The trade off of never need to restock is well worth it in my opinion.
I just made six of these for various ships, including my FAS - it's a 20% damage decrease. The FAS is FANTASTIC with it though. Highly recommend trying it.
I did mine with a basic short-range blaster mod, to help balance out the damage decrease, so it ended up being about a 15% decrease (just used rank 1, because I am lazy).

I don't want to de-RAILthe thread, but how much fuel does this take? I know it's going to depend on fuel tank size, but are we talking you use it for 30 mins and a quarter of your fuel is gone? Or is it very different to that one way or the other?
I went into about five or six battles with an asp with two of these, and had LOADS of fuel left.
Around 20% damage reduction.
