Newcomer / Intro Quick question about SLFs.

Hello folks - I've never used SLF's yet, but given my current run has pirates lined up nose-to-tail and I can't make it five feet without tripping over someone who's 'gonna boil me up', I decided I'd try one.
I plopped a fighter bay into my T9, stuffed a Taipan (gelid F) into it, and gave my pilot something to do for once other than sit there looking pretty.

She is currently STILL sitting there looking pretty - 'cause the moment I put a fighter bay in, I've seen exactly ONE pirate. Becky deployed, I fumbled with the commands a bit and in seconds she was happily blasting away and kept the guy busy until the cops showed up.

Successful test. :)

BUT - my question is about the frequency of attacks - without the bay, I literally couldn't move for pirates. Four interdictions in 45,000ls was not uncommon - nor was an interdiction within 5 seconds of arriving in-system. Now, with it? Crickets.

Is this coincidence, or does having a fighter bay adjust the piracy frequency?

Thanks.

I'd say you were either running multiple missions with each having a pursuant npc of its own. And, or, you repeatedly escaped same interdictor hence him having a go again and again. Afaik slf pilots do not affect interdiction frequency.
No multiple missions, no missions at all other than the CG - I'm running goods from my Carrier into Fox Enterprise. It could be the same pirate, though I made sure the cops killed him before I returned to SC.
It's a bit odd then - because the interdictions have really come to a stop. Close to a dozen trips to the station, and not one pirate.

Some days random hates you other days it ignores you.

If you drop and boost, the pirate will nearly always come after you again in SC.
If you win the Interdiction mini-game (easier said than done in a T9), they will leave you alone for the rest of your SC.

True; that is the normal state. It's just that right now; things are NOT normal, at least in my limited experience.
Not that I'm complaining of course; I sure don't mind a pirate-free flight, but since my OP in this thread, I've not met one single pirate. The only variable that has changed is the fighter bay. Before I'd installed it I was hit numerous times on every flight to Fox Enterprise.

I'm curious, so I'll try an experiment. When I return to my Carrier for another load, I'll take the fighter bay out and see what happens. :)

Another experiment would be to see if not taking the pilot but keeping the fighter bay has any effect.
