Quick question: DK2 with Horizons. Does it work?

Yes.

0.5.0.1 iirc for non steam

0.8 if using Steam VR

Get your IPD done at an optometrist, the software one is not super accurate. I got mine for free by a local Wal-Mart and it was a full mm off.. The Rifts does not mesure the relaxed state of your eyes. That tiny bit off was enough to cause an aftereffect when taking it off where things would appear to move for a few minutes.. now no longer have that problem

Your brain has had < enter age here> to get used to how far apart your eyes are. Changing that via software makes the brain feel ill and causes the nausea effects you hear about. If they match the brain does not know that you are looking at a screen cause input received equals inputs expected.

It does.

0.6.0.1 - no stream version.

But you need at least gtx970 - even then it is not really enough to run smooth on planets.

Every part of the game runs smooth as silk on my gtx970, including planets. Using maxed out settings with vsync off. No judder, no freezing. Just runs great here with DK2 .

You have VSYNC off? I thought that needed to be on you mean in game?

I measured my IPD myself using this method: http://doc-ok.org/?p=898
Very easy to do. All you need is a ruler and a wall mounted mirror. It's far more accurate than the built-in measurement tool. Just repeat it a few times to make sure you are getting constistent results.
Actually I also had my opthalmologist measure my IPD with professional instruments when I had a scheduled visit. The result was exactly the same.

I run single 970 clocked using MSI gaming app to 1330hz, and i5 4690k clocked to 4ghz, running at 2560x1440 resolution (Nvidia DSR), High settings and full rift slider and i get ZERO judder in stations, planets, supercruise or planetary bases. I did before Horizons, but not since.

So does that mean if you enabled V-Sync you'd have judder?

As the title says

Thanks!

edit

anything I need to know. Steam version etc

Horizons runs very well on steamVR now with 800. It's still slightly more demanding than the 501 runtime I have via the runtime switcher. I can switch between 501 and 800 easily.

I'm using an old GTX 680 but it has a 20 fps boost from very high overclock.

i5 2500k at 4.8ghz.

Horizons is an amazing experience with VR.

The great thing about running it on steamVR is that what you see is mirrored to desktop monitor as a big single image. With 501 or 601 runtime there's no screen mirroring. With steamvr I can put oculus on someone's head and fly them around in Horizons because their view is mirrored on monitor.
