Quick question on the Experimental Effect

Back in the days when I engineered one of my FSD, I remember I applied (for my ignorance) the wrong experimental effect (stripped down instead of mass manager).
What do I have to do if I want to change this experimental effect? Can I simply go to the engineer by providing the required materials for the EE or do I lose an engineering grade to do it? I'm a bit confused.

You can overwrite the experimental

Legacy modules need to be rerolled first, when you do it starts at grade 4 again so you need g5 materials but you can apply the expermental at any level

Gotta be careful. If you are looking for range, larger ships need mass manager but smaller ones get greater range from the deep charge.

However the smaller ships suffer from smaller tanks so maybe that's not always beneficial.

Yeah I was a bit unsure. On coriolis.io for my configuration the difference was minimal. I wouldn't do the deep charge for the Anaconda though because I remembeR it cod only make 4-5 jumps before being completely dry.
