Quick question to upgrade

Hi,

I have backed to be able to participate into the beta.
however, I would like to upgrade to alpha access.

is this possible? how to do this?

Thanks.

It seems the only way now is to buy a full alpha package. Lots of us in the same position, but we did receive fair warning! :)

Not to use what you have already paid, it seems if you want to join the alpha you have to shell out another £200.

But as huwthomas said we were told.

Well,

then I was misinformed.
I thought kickstarter backers could upgrade...
I'm not going to pay again 200£ for the alpha, As I find 100£ only for the beta is already costly.

any idea when the beta will be?

I heard it is Jan for beta. There's no point upgrading to alpha with XMas new year upon IMO. Plus a million other games out there to play right now.

Still think it is a little harsh to remove the ability to upgrade people who originally backed the game and made it possible in the first place. Ive put £85 in so far but expected to pay £100 to get first crack at BETA when in fairness should only have to add £15 to get it. When most games cost us £40 of the shelf, many have made a leap of faith the ED will fulfil its promise simply because we loved it in the 80s. Hoping this is not going to turn into a money grabbing scheme by Frontier but tbh that's how it feels atm...Sure charge people who didn't back the game in the early days but don't kick the loyal ones in the face after we have waited so long to see the game develop.

Akastaff,

I do have exactly the same feeling.
I played the original Elite games, backed on kickstarter for 100£ and I aren't allowed to upgrade hurts.

1) Availability to upgrade was for a year. Some games don't even allow you get beta and alpha access after Kickstarter, like Limit Theory;
2) There was 2 week warning, it was issued trough newsletter and update;
3) Do you really think they will allow to run this forever? After all, when game is starting to taking shape, it is indeed time to cut off;
4) You have second beta as myself. It will come soon enough trust me :)

I'm kicking myself that I only went for second Beta now, wish I'd gone for first Beta, but I can't justify paying for that now. I would happily pay the difference though to upgrade.

I know we had fair warning but surely FD are loosing out now as I'm sure there's quite a few people in the same boat as me now who are willing to pay more to upgrade to premium Beta or Alpha but not to shell out from scratch.

I can wait... I just don't want to

Sorry you guys feel this way ,but as has been said ,we were all warned with plenty of time ,even the backers app was a bit of an extension really as it allowed us all the best part of a year to upgrade the kickstarter pledge as much as we wanted or could afford.
I hope you don,t lose faith in the game and that we see you in Beta( Beta was as much as I could afford atm)

It's something I'm sure Frontier thought about very carefully when deciding how to end the original backers package after the Kickstarter finished.

As mentioned it was avaliable for a year after the KS had finished and they did email all the backers and posted here on the forum informing everyone of the end of the first backers app. and the opening of the new store.
