Quick question

Is there a way to tell if a space station will have a mission that is obtainable for you before you go there?

I've only had ED for a week so I'm still very green but I thought I'd ask, it might save me a lot of time.

I find myself jumping all over the place and every station I come across always have missions but they are unobtainable. With that being said, I'm becoming really good at docking!

Nope.

Try waiting at a station for 10 minutes, the missions will refresh.

None that I'm aware of.

But do remember it being very difficult finding BB missions I could actually do till I got into my Eagle. Have a look at the unobtainable missions and see why you can't do them. May just be a case of swapping in another Cargo hold for space or the like

What ship are you currently using may I ask?

I'm brand new
I bought the game last week and have been figuring the game out (slowly) so I'm still in the starter ship

Personally I'd head over to your nearest Nav Beacon (Next to the Main Star in the system) and help the security vessels take down some Wanted Ships, cash in the bounties and upgrade to either Eagle or possibly an Adder,

With ships with a bit more cargo space and a bit more ummph you should see some more BB Missions open up and the like. With that under your belt have a look and go at the various professions you can do and see which fits your style

Yes but only using magic, place a crystal pendulum above a selected station if it swings like mad there is a plethora of missions but they are all bugged and you will struggle to complete them.

If you are just hopping about, make sure (if you aren't already) to check the commodity market and see if they produce anything and where they export to, buy some and go there to sell it...it will increase your trade rank (slowly I know)but at least it will pay for fuel and if there are no BB missions there repeat again.

The for all the replies

My plan was to upgrade to the Adder. I went out to the Kremain system and explored out there for a bit. As I was exploring, a pirate pulled me out of super cruise so I lit him up. Had a 60k bounty on his head. Saw a few haulers being attacked so I destroyed the attackers, docked at a station and collected the bounty. I then jumped to a new station to buy my Adder but...

I fell asleep in super cruise.

I haven't logged on yet, so I have no idea where I am but I'll get my Adder tonight and do a little more bounty hunting. Once I upgrade a little ill do some trading.

I'm really enjoying the game, I love dogfighting. I originally thought I would become a pirate but not sure anymore, bounty hunting is pretty fun.

Glad to be of some help, I've tried mining and BHing so far enjoy them both but the last week I've been solidly BH as part of the Community Goal.

Voodoocaster you seem to have got off to a good start. I personally went for the Viper next to do some more bounty hunting. After that I upgraded to a Cobra and did the rare good runs from Lave area to Fujin area (lots of info in these forums) that got me a good start in the game. Currently in an ASP to do smuggling/trading.

Totally this...

Start with the Nav beacon to get the idea, but then find a High Res site in a planets rings (Kremainn has some if I recall). Just follow the system authority ships around and get a few shots on a wanted ship just before it goes pop - doesn't have to be the kill shot, you'll get awarded the bounty.

That's how I got started, and it still works, watched FireyToad do this on Twitch a few days ago, he went in a bog standard starter sidewinder and in a shade under 2 hours had a well spec'd Cobra Mk3 and 1mil credits in the bank.

Way better than faffing around hoping to get decent BB missions nowadays.
