Quiet and Peaceful On the Forums over the Weekend - Everyone Exploring?

I thought it seemd pretty quiet on the forums over the weekend.......not the usual grrrrrrrrrr.........
...
I wondered if people like me, had headed off exploring......to escape the NPCs, Cmndrs, Trade Grind, etc etc......
...
If so, how did you find it?......I must say I am enjoying it very much. I am about 4000 light years out, have found 3 Earth type worlds, scanned 1000 systems, and had a run in with a black hole and I'm now hunting more, whilst scanning certain stars and planets along the way. Not sure when I will head back. Hull is still at 95% (early refuling error and that run in with the black hole).........so when it gets to 50 I might turn around....I like that I can walk away from the sim to make a coffee, check forums.......you dont have to be quite as "on your toes" as you do in the core systems, though there are certainly dangers out here.......
...
Only real downside, is it is a very long way from home.....a friend wanted to link up over weekend for some pew pew...and I was like......er.............lol.

I think there is an unofficial de facto cease fire on the grrr front - most topics are grrrr'd out.

Expect normal service to resume when 1.2 drops...

Haven't tried much exploring yet - varying my routes and upgrading right now with a bit of NPC annihilation now and again.

I enjoyed it at first. Its a very relaxing way to spend time in ED. I spent more time playing my guitar on the bridge of my Cobra than I did actually exploring to be honest. Then I discovered two earth likes, and started panicking about getting the data back first.

When you're heading out into the big black and leaving civilisation (and repair shops) behind, it brings a new level of fear when things go wrong. Simple mistakes can cost big - you've really got to be hyper-alert when jumping. I suffered heat damage and lost some hull intergrity....again panic ensued. I found exploring to be a roller coaster of ultimate-chill vs sudden panic.

I only got to about 1006ly from home though before I started to get twitchy for some action, and decided to head home. About 500ly out, I started to get interdicted...when this happens whilst scooping, its another panic....and more heat damage.

I will never, NEVER go out there without guns again.

My next trip will be longer. I'm in awe of the commanders who go tens of thousands of light years out.

Yes - I keep getting too casual with scooping and taking damage - that must be a nightmare on a long trip.

On my outward leg I tend not to scan systems in case I find something juicy and want to head back, but mostly because I don't want to lose a tonne of data in case I go pop. I am making my way to Sagittarius A* and keeping my fingers crossed. As Streki says, you have to be on your toes: there are some scary systems to bump into, so I hear.

Actually yes, i was in deep space exploring. Now i'm trying to map the sectors around Lave and Comovoy. :)

I dropped out of FS into a LICZ and engaged a Python, lost my bearings and crashed into it, about 3.6m down the pan.

As it was my fault I didn't feel the need to whinge about it here.
