Quince datas scan missions, no danger or bug

Hi,

As I am working on Paling I need the specialized firmware so I decided to go to quince and do the data scan missions.
I have done some dozens and there is never anything that attacks while I am scanning the data Points

Is that normal? What qualifies for an attack?

If it's a public beacon you can scan it without incident.

If it's a private beacon, you get a bounty when you scan it and attacked by any ships/skimmers/guns nearby.

Generally higher grade missions have private beacons, but not always. There's no way of telling if it's a private or public beacon before you take the mission (as far as I can tell)

Do you mean Palin? I'm trying to figure out why you need specialized firmware.

Derpy me, I got killed at an outpost in Quince yesterday. First time I found one that was a trespass zone and I landed right next to it. By the time I got back in my ship it was already down to 11% hull. Now I check by flying over and will land well outside range if I will be trespassing.

Just buy a Sidey at Millerport and use self-destruct. Or let outpost guns take care of it.

As far as I can tell in planetary scan missions, rather than for scanning the beacon, you pick up a bounty for "trespassing" - being in the red exclusion zone for more than a few seconds - and once you have that bounty, you're going to be noticed and attacked.

It seems to be just about possible - from the times it's happened to me - to scan the point without quite entering that zone, if you're very careful and approach from the right angle - and if you manage to do that they won't notice, and you won't get a bounty.

Wait...are Quince Planetary Scan missions still working for low risk/high payout?

This phenomena is galaxy-wide: Quince just saves you a hyperjump. So no need to go all the way to Quince.

It's bloody good fun as well. Get a Dropship with 2 beams on top and dumbfire missiles for the rest and destroy all the big base defences. Land and scan.

Good fun when a Goliath or two is thrown into the mix
