Horizons radar icon info

I have googled a question about radar icons to no avail.
I see that there are white ones, yellow one and orange ones.
Orange seems a bit rare.
I was told here somewhere that white ones were maybe hostile and reds are definitely hostile.
Last night, an NPc was in the area to get me. I left the station and he was already there attacking the station. He was yellow. I didn't get a shot off before he was destroyed.

The icons that really interest me are the yellow squares and pointy squares ( 5 sides) that flicker and jump around.
Nowhere can I find any info.
Can some cmdr please clue me in on what these are?

Ok the radar:

Square = Object or ship without weapons deployed
Triangle = Ship with weapons deployed

Green = Friendly/Allied faction
Red = Is or was in combat with you very recently
Orange = Neutral ship
White = Object (material, cargo etc)
Yellow flickering = Unknown contact (any of the above) just outside your sensor range that you know is there but not what it is

Note: None of this adds up at all if you have changed your HUD colours.
