Radeon HD 7850 enough

I'm currently running.

i5 3570k @ 3.4ghz
Radeon HD7850 2gb OC version
16gb ram

hoping to be able to play on high settings, a new graphics card is in order if not... would rather not buy one unless I have to though.

hoping someone in beta has a similar setup who could give me some feedback.

Thanks guys.

I have the 7970 (well two, but crossfire isn't up and running yet) however there is this:

Currently using an AMD 7850 - at least until crossfire is supported properly, after which I'll use two :)

Not sure on the framerates, it seems to vary depending on the resolution I am using - 3 screens at 5760x1080 or 1 screen at 1920x1080. I do have to adjust the video settings between the two though as the frame rate is too low on the larger res.

Will do some testing later.

You should be OK with that. Just maybe not with every setting maxed out at a super high frame rate. The difference between low and high settings isn't massive and you'll be able to tweak them to get your desired FPS.
The current performance in the Beta is not indicative of how the full game will run. Chances are it will improve up to and beyond release.
Additionally GPU drivers get updated and some received game specific performance increases.

I' m using a R9 280X ( basically the same as yours ) with an AMD FX 4.7 Ghz quad core .
It is basically the same as you have and the game runs fine.

I am running the i7 3770, 16GB of ram, the Asus 7850 non OC 2GB CUII board on a Sabretooth Z77 and it is running fine.

You are wrong R9 280X is basically the same as HD7970 and not HD7850 and is about 1.4-1.6 times faster than HD7850. However, HD7850 should be still enough.

Certainly with the one screen and everything maxed out it's more than playable, although I haven't checked FPS yet.

With the low detail setting at 5760x1080 I'm comfortable at 30 fps in stations and up to 60fps elsewhere, although there may something going on with my vsync settings.

Ok, so:

5760 x 1080 Fullscreen (3 screens in Eyefinity): Low preset, 20-30 FPS in stations, 30-60 FPS in space.

1920 x 1080 Fullscreen: Low preset, 30-40 FPS in stations, 60-100 FPS in space.

1920 x 1080 Fullscreen: High preset, 20-30 FPS in stations, 50-70 FPS in space.

1720 x 1000 Windowed: Low preset, 40-60 FPS in stations, 60-120 FPS in space.

1720 x 1000 Windowed: High preset, 20-50 FPS in stations, 60-80 FPS in space.

naaaaaa its near

oh I realy shouldn't but sod it I can afford it will kick in

I am running the game on the following system:

Win 8.1 64bit
8Gb RAM
Intel I5 4690
1tb HDD

The reason I am using the HD4600 on-board graphics is that I am holding out until the 800 series nvidia desktop cards become widely available - on my setup the HD4600 even runs the new wolfenstein and battlefield 4 games without issues and smoothly - just need to lower the graphics options a bit.

Elite Dangerous is running well for me at low settings at 1360x768 with my on-board graphics. I had the contingency plan of moving the vid card out of my other PC if it did not run well for now but I don't need to :)
