radio sidewinder in ship

Hi,

Can I integrate the radio in my ship or do I have to start the website and app and launch ED?

As GeoFalke said, no. Essentially, start any music-playing item first (radiosidewinder, huttonorbital, or Windows media player if you intend to play a soundtrack of your own making), then fire up ED. Helps if you also have a multi-media keyboard to turn the volume up/down as needed. Make sure you turn the in-game music down (in supercruise) first or you'll be listening to two different pieces of music at the same time). Same for starbase music as well.

there is a music mute option in audio options to completely remove the ingame music without messing with the volume levers.

it's a better alternative to constantly having to toggle your music volume

iirc you can embed radio sidewinder into VLC and windows media player.

i just never tried because I like to use the onsite chat as well if i have free time

Never going to happen. Radio Sidewinder gets fair use of the music as they do not make morey and are not a company.

Frontier puts it into the game, they now have to pay royalties.

You are right, Radio Sidewinder is not a company, but it's not because of fair use that we are able to play the music we do. Our broadcasting platform (Radionomy) pays royalties to the music artists out of the income they receive for the RL adverts they insert into the stream.

But we digress...

Yes you can (sort of). The VLC player has a skin that is themed to the look of your cockpit. More info on our forums here: http://www.radiosidewinder.com/forums/topic/psa-vlc-skin-themed-for-ed/

Once you've got the VLC skin installed and VLC is connected to the Radio Sidewinder stream, you launch VLC and then start up ED.

Thanks for listening Commander. :)

Yeah, basically this. As much as I like the ED soundtrack, Radio Sidewinder and Hutton Orbital Radio (and my own Awesome Mixes) take precedence.

I use Voice Attack so I can choose my radio station (or mix tape) without ever having to leave the game. Very immersive. And if you turn it off in order to focus, that also seems more real :)

I've been rather cautious of using my mixtapes while flying as they've been known to vastly increase my ships internal heat to hazardous levels.
this is what happened to the poor sod who I lent my mixtape to last :(

It would be nice if we could have external streams into the game, that would then accordingly be treated as ingame audio and such.

That said I don't think such would be high priority though it would be nice.
