Rag & bone ship.

Your ship design is a jack of all trades, master of none. You'd be better off with a decent home base location and outfit your ship to the tasks needed, rather than putting all features together, getting all of their weaknesses and few of the advantages. Why take passengers mining, for example?

I have three Cobras rigged up as a weaponless (and very fast) smuggler, mining ship with collector limpets and general purpose runabout (each with distinctive paint job to their roles). I swap them out as needed.

Role-play. ;]

This thread is really just me talking about what I'm doing right now in the game. Pretty sure that's what the devs' intended the forum for. :)

Not getting angsty here. Just explaining the goal of the thread, which is just to be a friendly chat.

Ok, I get what you're trying for, but I think a couple of those options are just too random.

I'd swap the small cargo rack for a collector, or mining is probably going to be frustrating. And I really can't find any rational behind the mine launcher. MC, PA, Rail or missile rack I could work with, but the mine layer is just [where is it]

:D

On the plus side, you won't be committed to the character for long if you stick with iron man. :p

If he doesn't die by fire, he'll die of boredom mining without collector limpets.

I like the idea of a jack of all trades ship though. Very bare bones in a mk3, but when I've considered it for my Anaconda there's too many options. Maybe a Python someday.

A rag and bone man is a term used to describe someone in Britain who used to go around collecting all sorts of "rubbish" (hence rags and bones) that were of little value to most people but nonetheless had an intrinsic value to those in "the know".

So I am guessing that this gentleman is attempting to play a kind of "jack of all trades" character who makes dribs and drabs of currency from activities others would see of little value...

I may be wrong ;-)

When it comes to all-trades, the Python isn't the jack, the python is the ace. Though there are a few other excellent multipurpose ships with exceptional capabilities:

The Many-Purpose AspX: https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/asp...p2l2l02040003044a2t1qC0v62h.Iw18WQ==.Aw18WQ==.
The Many-Purpose Type-6: https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/typ...das8f42l2l---04371v45C0v62h.Iw1/kA==.Aw1sIylQ.
And the Even More Purpose Type-7: https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/typ...54fmi37v41vC02h.Iw18aQ==.AwjMJAmSEYYhNT2EA===.

I'm impressed more by the whole iron-man thing. I wiped my save once and restarted. While it was fun, and I think re-engaged me with the game I don't think I'd do it twice.
I try not to cheat, I only mission stack if by chance that's what's on the board when I go to it and I like that I've now got back up to the bigger ships. I don't fly the big three because my two favorites are the FDL and my jack-of-all-trades, an AspX, if I liked myself to one ship it would be my choice.
Anyway, much respect for going full iron man, I know I'd get frustrated with it!

That's pretty much it. :)

Thread reminded me of the eponymous chap who used to pound the streets in Tooting.
We eventually settled that he was probably shouting: "Old Iron, I'll 'ave it!"

But it sounded exactly like: "BIINE! ARDABLET!"

Your definition of multi-role: A ship that can do everything at all times. A Swiss-Army knife.

THE definition of multi-role: A ship that can be outfitted for a job and then easily re-fitted for a different job. A knife with a single, but interchangeable blade that can be switched out for other blades.

Your ship cannot do 3 jobs at the same time, it can do 2 jobs (meh) OK at the same time but there will be HUGE compromises and I avoid it. Outfit your ship for THE job at hand and when that job is finished re-fit the ship for whatever job comes up. And when you want to pick a fight, outfit for COMBAT and NOTHING ELSE if you want to live. o7
