Rail guns post update, hot or not?

I held off on modding my new Imperial Hammers until the update went live. The double ammo capacity change from the beta seems nice but what did you guys all think?

I'm planning on either running light weight or efficient with super penetrators as apparently the shield cascade effect has been scaled back considerably.

Would welcome some informed comments on the state of the rail gun meta.

Grab a barrel after firing and see?

Probably safer to wrap bacon around them before firing but *shrug*

Well, I won't be abandoning feedback rails - they are one of the few counters against big shields. Other than that, we now get G5 railgun mods, I'll be looking at the G5 short range blaster, if available.

The super penetrator effect looks good, but I'm not sure what kind of a damage penalty that incurs?

Hah! Love it. Insist on the best. Railgun® Bacon.

Seriously though haven't tried them yet but personally my yardstick is the cobra faceoff training mission.. If you can now fire the rails more than twice without your own ship burning to a crisp, they've fixed em afaic. Either way, the ammo buff is surely enough to make any rail fan dance with joy.

There is no efficient mod for rails but heavy duty has a very good thermal decrease plus penetration. I modded out two with feedback cascade and will be testing them out shortly. Only G4 cause I didn't have Martts but got a very good heat roll on one of them.

Do you mean Sturdy Mount rather than Heavy Duty?

Much better than before. I can pop two IMP hammer salvos before over heating now.

Damage is a bit lack luster though.

Running grade 5 sturdy but not so sure about the 1000% weight gain for negligible module damage with armor piercing.
