Railroad question

I know that guests won’t ride a steam train (or monorail) with just one station, but if I want to have a round trip train, would this trick work? Build your railroad as normal but when about to connect with the station you started at don’t connect but build a second station next to the first one. Then build more track overlapping the track you built going around the circuit again, then connect with the first station. Would people ride it that way even though the second station is right next to the first but the entrance and exit are on the opposite side of the first station?

The only thing I can suggest is try it, but probably not. Guests will use the trains if it gets them a long distance quicker than walking, so you'd have to have a very creatively laid out path system to make the station right next to the main one be further than walking!

people use the train to get to a different part of the park instead of walking. I know because I read the “thoughts” of LOTS of people when no one would ride mine. They know that there wont be any rides in between your stations and they most likely wont ride it. Just add a station where other rides are so the have a reason to ride it. Trains are hard because they say its not exciting enough. If people dont ride see what they’re thinking. That should help. Good luck

But if I’m doing a park recreation and the park has a train ride with just one station I have to break away from realism and build a second station where one doesn’t exist in real life? This issue with the trains is almost a game breaker for me and I wish there was a workaround. For example, Knott’s Berry Farm in California has 2 steam train rides and both have just one station each. I started to build that park and I don’t know what to do about the train issue. I thought about building a second station adjacent to the first one and having people exit on that side. For the larger railroad I might just make a second station on the opposite side of the route. Also do all riders exit the train at the next station? Nobody will ride it round trip? In some real parks you can stay on the train as long as you like, others you must get off at the next station and get in line to ride back to the first station.
