Ram Tah - Is The End Upon Us?

Ram Tah doesn’t engineer anything that anyone would miss to much yet. More guardian content incoming. I think he’s been holding back and there may be more to Mr. Tah than he has let on thus far.

lol, I'm here now getting my heat sinks and PDs done for my Cutter. I'd miss him more than Qwent. All about Hera Tani anyway [wink]

I did the mission several times and found it worthwhile. I'd probably do the CG, if I were in the bubble, but I'm currently on the far side of Sag A*, so I doubt I'll be back before the CG is complete.

Hopefully Ram Tah's going to come out with where those AIs got to, he's be rather quiet on most of the Guardian discoveries for while, except for what we got from the 2017 Meene CG. Ever since then we've been scratching for the meerest of clues, regarding Thargs et all.

My thouhgts is ever yeah they are going to remove this mission or maybe this was all planned out to get newer players on this mission rightfully it can take between 2-4 days to complet depends on your freetime.

This might not be the end though maybe Ram Tah is simply asking us to stock pile him tones of artefact and he will leave meene system and go quite for a while then randoms pop out with the long awaited Guardian Weapons.

On the other hand i think FDev believe we are robots or something with the amount needed to collect for the CG.....
Like for real it doesnt looking like its even moved so ever it has bugged or they didnt ajust the amount because if its the same as trade CGs then yeah count me out im not running around in circles like some braindead monkey

edit: After check both CGs the current trade CG is 55K what equals T7 while Ram Tah is a bit over half that amount and not even hit T1 yet

Ram Tah's Last Hurrah

08 FEB 3304

Ram Tah, the galaxy's foremost expert on the Guardians, has revealed that his research funding will soon end. In an effort to make the most of his remaining finances, the engineer has appealed to independent pilots to deliver Guardian artefacts to his base in the Meene system.

In a statement, Ram Tah said:

"Public interest in the Guardians may have waned, but I believe there is more to learn. Only through thorough investigation and analysis can we hope to fully understand the Guardians, their technology, and their relationships to other species. This knowledge could be of great importance to humanity."

The campaign has received a financial boost from Meene General Industries, which has promised to reward pilots who deliver artefacts from Guardian sites to Felice Dock in the Meene system.

The campaign begins on the 8th of February 3304 and will run for one week. If the final target is met earlier than planned, the campaign will end immediately.

---

I hope this doesn't mean what I'm inferring here - but I have to ask... does this signal the end of Ram Tah's Guardian Ruins missions? This has long been the single, most enjoyable mission in Elite, delightfully complex, and something with considerable time both on the Development side as well as on the player base side. I shudder to think of the number of man-hours the Cannon group put into this - maps and tables, and charts and data, not to mention all the time spent simply tracking down the various locations of these ruins.

If this does mark the end of this mission, this is going to invalidate my only current reason and use for the upcoming Squadron Carrier.

And I fear for new players as well - not only is the a great means to learn to use many of Elite's most complex systems - SRV operations, synthesis, inventory management, ship design, planning and engineering, it will also deprive new players of a great opportunity to see their efforts rewarded in a significant manner.

Perhaps I'm just being a bit doom-and-gloomy here... perhaps there's nothing to worry about at all and I'm just reading too much into this. Perhaps not.

Indigo, (or anyone else)

The reason I've not done it before now is because it was a brute force solution, I didn't like that idea, and I don't want to just follow a spreadsheet to complete it (although as always think it's great that you put in the effort to write the guide)

Someone mentioned above that the symbols had changed to reflect what you needed, can I now work my way through to a solution?

If that's the case it might be time to give it a go

Also if you put a piece of Guardian tech in a Thargoid machine, it doesn't like it. It REALLY doesn't like it! :D

That may be very important, more so than people think.

If you were trying to communicate the term "Bad Thing" to a species you had no real way of communicating with, the only option available is to react in a very pointed fashion. Now is it just hatred of the Guardians, or are the Thargoids trying to say "Beware! This race!Danger, danger!" ?

The Thargoids pointed to their bases, gave us the key to get inside, showed us that map, and if you don't annoy them will leave you alone. These are not the actions of an aggressive race. Now the Guardians on the other hand, are Hunters, xenophobes, religious nutters, part Ai and quite capable of genocide. (Read their bio). Just because the Guardians are basically humanoid shaped does not mean they are good guys.
I urge caution as regards the Guardians.

hese are not the actions of an aggressive race.

I seem to remember hyper-interdiction and murder with NO WARNING, when you couple that with what we're seeing now - kidnap and murder of Ejected Pilots, attack and thousands of casualties of Orbital Facilities we're NOT looking at the actions of a reasonable or peaceable race...
Put it in a "real-world" context Imagine that Humanity it your country...and the Thargoids another...
Another country is randomly attacking airliners and cargo ships...no warning, then you find them picking up (kidnapping) downed pilots and survivors...taken away never to be seen again...then they attack airfields...causing hundreds of casualties including many innocent civilians...
Now politically speaking, are your suggestions on foreign policy...eh...let it be its no big deal...I wouldn't say there was any need for conflict with this country?

Hyperdictions, yes. But no murder. Thargoids will only attack if you attack them, or you have something they want. At least, that was certainly the case a little while ago - has anything changed?

I found this out the hard way few days ago. Dont steal the thargoids stuff O.O

Another analogy would be that the airfield is near the ocean and the particular water currents and weather conditions amplify the sonar of nearby whales and this completely disrupts the electronic systems of the airfield. Does this mean we have to go to war with the whales?

If that becomes the case, it's even more reason to tie the mission to his requirements.
At least get an understanding of the Guardians before you get access to their bling.

We've no idea what happened to those escape pods, any more than the thargoids know what happened to the probes and artefacts they left out (Those artefacts could well be sentient by Thargoid standards), and as regards the stations...well I know for a fact that pilots used their ships to devastate Barnacle forest, it's entirely possible the station attacks were retaliation for that vandalism. And don't forget that those damaged stations were damaged, not destroyed. Those stations could easily have been an expanding cloud of green gas, the Thargoids held their fire, there was a reason for that, what was it?

No I am not suggesting we just let them roam at will, I'm saying that Alien=pew-pew target is not the way forwards yet.

Before I join the pew-pew crowd, I want to know I'm on the right side, doing the right thing, so far I've seen no real proof of anything other than retaliation for our actions.

And before you ignore this posting, tell me honestly what was the first reaction on YouTube once we knew there was an alien race, and then tell me it wasn't "How do we kill them?"

I figure we have 1 year to sort all this out. Fdev will have all the bits sorted by the end of this year (or at least enough), then they will let cause and effect take over the narrative (and coding).

I'm sure I saw in one of the beta threads that the obelisks have been updated to show glyphs representing which relics you need to scan it with. It would be strange for them to make updates to the mission so you can do it without needing out of game tools only to then remove it with a CG before the beta goes live. I don't think the mission is going anywhere.

The hyperdictions are on purpose though. The Thargoids are clearly searching for something or someone on a ship. Your whales analogy doesn’t work unless the whales are superintelligent and disrupting electronic system on purpose.

I don’t think the Thargoids would appreciate humans hyperdicting, disabling and scanning their ships either. This is clearly an aggressive act, as are the Station attacks given they are full of innocent people and not just INRA employees. Where’s the diplomacy? Or warnings for that matter, if they can communicate with us?

I’ve just completed the Guardians missions. It was a lot of fun learning all the lore but I can imagine how much of a pain it was to originally figure out. I used a guide and it took me a long time to complete it all. Without knowing what objects to use or even what sites to go to, it would have been a ridiculous task to complete on my own. Updating the mission to include the sites to go to would have made it much easier without taking away all the trial and error or investigation for the general player. Especially given the lower payout for the mission currently.

The guardian mission obelisks mention a possible war with another species (Thargoids?), the guardians having amazing shield tech (maybe why Thargoid weapons obliterate our shields and why were getting Hull tank ships), and also that we may share a common ancestor with the Guardians (Mars artefact?). It’s worth reading all the info if you haven’t the time to complete the mission before Thursday and the mission does go away.
